I'm just wondering how many people here have high blood pressure, do you have high BP? How high was t before seeking medication amd do you think it's from test at least or cycling, and do you lack cardio or healthy diet? It seems like a lot of us have it but it's strange I find seeing we should be the healthiest population compared to the rest of the country

"we" As in weight lifters on steroids? My BP is decent, but when on certain cycles it's in the red zone. by that I mean my BP monitor at times has a red light beside my reading vs green or amber.

Nice man that's good. I meant we as in bodybuilders or even just members here. Maybe I should have chosen better words. I have high blood pressure in my family and I'm just waiting to be on meds but I feel like almost anybody should be able to control it with diet and cardio. I just wonder if most people sacrifice cardio for muscle gains or if no matter what your diet or cardio if your prone its just inevitable anyway

I was high and the doc had me on meds for it. I was taken off the meds about 1 month later because it was extremely low. I had to wear a BP monitor for a week and return to see the doc to determine if I needed to stay off or just have the meds adjusted. I believe thebheart stent took care of the hypertension. I was also a smoker of ciggs and herbs but had quite Jan 12.
I know with out a doubt a cycle of Eq would put me in stage 3 hypertension like it did in the past. Back then my diet was all meat. I wasn't as selective as I am today. I just ate any cut along with the fat and didn't matter what animal the meat came from.

BP is a strange thing. My family on both sides have high BP. Males (both sides) don’t usually make it past their 60’s. My mom and dad take BP meds. My only brother is on 4 different types of BP meds. My BP is normal to low for my age. Always around 120/75. Even when I’m on cycle, BP doesn’t fluctuate much.

What I find weird and happened to my dad amd a few others I know is it'll be low or normal their entire lives my dads doctor even thought he was an athlete it was so low then one day out of no where it just jumps up.

Mainly I wonder if people with high BP can always control it with diet and cardio or if you get it is medication inevitable

They say everyone has or gets cancer and heart disease just not everyone dies from it or dies from something else first. Apparently at birth we start developing heart disease just it doesn't hit people fast. Some people think everyone could beniet from bp meds and cholesterol meds once hitting a certain age

if we're referring to the gen pop, diet and cardio is likely the answer 90% of the time. If we're talking about bodybuilders, I'd say meds are the only solution much of the time. That's assuming said bodybuilder is actually living the lifestyle, not just banging gear and eating like an idiot

My BP has always been good around 100-120 systolic over 50-70 diastolic on or off. Keep in mind on is just adding a compound in low dose to my TRT. The only bad BP spikes is when I start HGH - it jumps 10-15 points so I now get ready in advance and increase my fish oil and nigella sativa prior. Once you health goes if it's serious - you have F all in life.
There is no reason acceptable for anyone to be near the hypertensive crisis numbers or extremely high RHR regardless of what you take. There are a myriad of supplements that work as good as medication and if needed go to the f'n doctor and get a script. High BP over an extended time and a high RHR is a recipe for disaster. Just think about the potential damage to your kidneys.

I would disagree - some guys on here are very fit, lean muscular and take their health very seriously and don't abuse PED's but use them. Like all forums some people believe ignorance is bliss and abuse PED's and if they feel OK, figure all is good. Carrying around all that excess weight you normally wouldn't do and considering what we know some PED's can do and people take then it is not surprising some have negative repercussions.
Further, I have read some the diets by guys on the forums who claim to be dieticians and they don't eat one vegetable or piece of fruit. We are omnivores and as such should be eating nuts, seeds, vegetables, fruits, meats, etc. How many guys take EVOO regularly or check their BP minimum of 3 times a week? A few tweaks and you can change your diet around and have a healthy diet that will help grow muscle.
@Sorbate has teased my because my BP and RHR is so low asking if I'm alive - it took a lot of work and I received help from some guys who compete and want to be around for their kids.

I don't care who you are, what level you are at, there is no excuse for high BP - go to your doctor and ask on the forums for supplements that work. There are some supplements that work as well as script medications in double blind placebo studies and have health benefits. People in this life style should concentrate on two things among many others but these two are important:
1. Keep inflammation down in your body - I don't mean just your muscles/joints but your organs and overall system.
2. Make sure glutathione is always high enough. Easy to do unless you are on harsh PED's, drinking and taking a Tylenol then you may have to turn up the precursors to glutathione but it can be done.

Just my opinion and in no way is this medical advice.

A second comment, many moons ago there was thread about essential supplements or something like that and I listed a bunch with science behind them - double blind placebo studies - for issues many guys/gals in this lifestyle may have. Some member tried to poke fun at me asking if I owned supplements stores due to the cost to take those. Considering I put health priority one I may take supplements daily and others may not but I have significantly cut down based on my blood work. Ignorance is not bliss and you may never know about a liver issue until your eyes turn yellow or blood issues until your body tells you to call an ambulance.

There is a lot of snake oil out there and I avoid supplements if they don't have multiple double blind studies by a third party with enough participants it is not an anomaly outcome. I spend a lot on s-AME because I believe in it. I also take Life Extenson Black seed oil/Nigella Sativa daily.
My point is if that member wants to talk about it again, happy to. I forgot to go back and comment but lost track of the thread.

I say this because I give a fuck - you only have one life and if you mess it up and lose your health you may survive but may not live. The things that made you happy, you can no longer do. An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.

Many are against the supplement industry and in general I am too but there are good ones - the question is are you willing to put the time in to do the research to find the ones to help your longevity and health?
Just food for thought.

Ive had high BP for as long as I can remember. Never gave it much thought when I was younger, the seriousness of it didn’t sink in till I was in my late 40’s.

I remember when I discussed it with my doctor for the first time, he was all excited, jumped out of his chair, went into another room and came back with a sheet of paper. Health Canadas food guide line 🙄

I gave it a quick look and told him half the “foods” on here I wouldn’t ever eat, “one can of pop a day” apparently was fine lol.

After a battery of tests the only conclusion he could come too was hereditary. Meds for life i guess, not that its a big deal apparently my dosage is very low and does the trick.

I swear to god I think BP is a genetic thing. I know dudes who live a healthy lifestyle and have high BP and I know dudes who don't and have low BP. I've ran crazy amount if gear including high doses of Tren and my BP was never far of 120-60 without any medication other than cialis here and there.

Whatever the case is, if anyone does have high BP they should go see their doctor and be put on something. If left untreated for too long you will smoke you kidneys.

@Goldenrod I tease my wife about being half dead because her heart rate is so low as well. Last time we checked it was 110/62.

Mine is like 125/79 on average. I need to work on it more, but I hate burping up black seed oil (I know get over it, lol). Plus I believe the longer I don’t smoke the better it will become as my lungs improve.

Genetics screwed me over but my lifestyle made it worse. Gained unhealthy weight which led me to being placed on meds.

However, it never affected me blasting in my 20's. Always stayed at 120s/70s.

Over the Easter weekend, I was conversing with a few folks from the healthcare sector. We determined that if you live long enough, you will eventually wind up on some type of BP med, especially after the 2017 changes in the hypertension criteria. Food for thought.

They blame salt a lot. I hope it's over use of salt and not a healthy balance because sodium deficiency can be equally as dangerous. They tell us to lower salt all our lives meanwhile especially athletic people who ear clean usually need more. I think deficiency can even cause extra water retention even heart attacks.

I’m thinking the age of our circulatory system may have something to do with it.
So hardening of arteries, partial blockages in the smaller capillaries so the cells supplied call for more nutrients and oxygen and increase in heart rate and blood pressure.

I do know when people were given pentosan sulphate in later years for bladder pain, they noticed their joints got better, and that was determinted to be from the buildup removed from smaller capalaries which increased blood flow to the joints and reduction of blood pressure was noted.

Our bodies are great at compensating to keep everything stable. So reduction in the permibility of our arteries and our body increases blood flow (pressure and heart rate) to help fix this issue.

I bet low dose cialis (and why it also reduces blood pressure) may help to put off the hardening of our arteries as we age. Thereby helping to reduce blood pressure, and help our arteries and circulation system functioning better.

I would also bet my ass, REAL trt doses, even high normal could contribute to keeping our circulatory system healthier: likely peptides or trt dose of gh: would also contribute.

So many other processing going on, but a few small things combined could help to delay the inevitable?

I am a saltaholic, I do not notice a huge difference between days I eat a ton of salt vs low days as far as blood pressure is conserned. Mind you I drink over a gallon of fluids a day. So I bet my body is balancing my sodium levels because is has the fluids to do so, aka peeing, lol.
