What’s the One Supplement You Actually Swear By?

Creatine. Also vitamin C and collagen. Everytime I start taking 1000mg vitamin C and collagen after being injured I notice a difference right away, every time. It happens so quick that I wonder if it's just anti inflammatory or lubricates joints some how.

Might try citrus bergamot, lysine and vitamin C again for high LDL. Lysine by itself works like magic for those with cold sores or genital herpes btw. I think you might need like five grams though, I can't remember.

If I have to pick one, it would be melatonin. Being a shift worker for 8 years, my circadian rhythm and any sort of normal sleep cycle is long gone. It’s nearly impossible to achieve “optimal” sleep quality living on this type of schedule, but melatonin has certainly allowed me to get as close as possible.
Melatonin is a staple in my sleep routine as well. Are you using fast-acting, slow-release, or dual-release? I’m currently taking 10 mg per night but tried 20 mg a couple of times and had great sleep. My only concern is building a tolerance. What’s your dosage, and do you take it daily?

GABA and Melatonin: perfect sleep REM cocktail.

L-arginine: hard erections 😅

Fish oil: great lipid profile and blood pressure regulation.
What dose are you taking for GABA? After a lot of trial and error, this is the sleep protocol that seems to be working best for me right now…

I’ve posted about my little experiment I’m doing in a a thread or two here before.

I’m currently doing a “mega dose” experiment. For about 2-3 months now, I’ve been ramping my dose up starting from 5mg/night. Every 3-4 days, I’m increasing by 1mg. I’m currently up to 33mg/night.

I honestly have no idea what the release rate is of the stuff I’m using, I have all kinds of tablets from multiple brands though. 10s, 5s, 3s, 1s. Some sublingual, some just regular tabs.

So far I’ve yet to hit a point of diminishing return, each time I increase my dose my sleep continues to feel great.

500-1000mg but I have to be honest and say that 1000mg most of the time gives me crazy sick nightmares or sleep paralysis. Nevertheless, I see this as a great reset because next day I feel so well rested that I can’t even describe it.

Brother, if you’re doing 30 mg, let’s just say tonight’s gonna be a good one for me too! I can’t wait to bump up the dose. Glad we had this conversation!

What dose are your GABA pills? I was using Pharma GABA, but they’re only 80 mg per pill. I might need to switch to regular GABA for a higher dose. I’m looking for that deep sleep, and I don’t mind a few nightmares along the way!

Give it a try man! I got the idea from Dave Lee whos a big advocate of high dose melatonin.

Here are a couple podcasts that he discussing it on:

worth the listen if you're interested in the topic

I feel like I should PayPal you $100 for this info! Wow, this is some of the most valuable insight I’ve come across for improving sleep. Knowing that 20 to 50 mg is the sweet spot, especially for pain management and disc issues, is a total game changer. I have a herniated or bulging disc myself, and that’s exactly why I struggle with sleep—I keep tossing and turning all night.

This is unbelievable, and it finally answered one of my biggest questions: what type of melatonin should I take? The fact that it should be micronized—that alone is worth everything. I think you might have just saved me, brother!

Morning @BanditNOLIMIT - I can't get the podcasts to play or I would listen to them (will try later), but I too take high doses of dual action melatonin for multiple reasons. Some contain products that are not allowed to be used in other countries so read the extra ingredients please. I take 20 mg a night and have for years - have taken more but 10 mg is usually enough to help aid falling asleep. I stopped a few times, cold turkey and was still able to sleep so I don't stress too much about needing more or stopping.

As per my comment above, keep an eye out for titanium dioxide in your products as it is a known carcinogen and banned in many countries but Canada still uses it in a lot of products.
Melatonin is one of the more potent antioxidants available, and beat NAC and very high hose vitamin E in studies on animals who were given liver toxins (they used mega doses of acetaminophen if I recall correct - enough to cause acute failure. It was by far the best for protection, 'they' suspect it is due to it's antioxidant / free radical scavenging/anti-inflammatory properties/ability to reactivate antioxidants that would normally be rendered inert and as such run out such as glutathione which protects the liver and is the mother of all antioxidants. Makes me wonder why the hospitals don't use it vs. IV NAC (or at least with) for all the acetaminophen overdoses accidental or not.
It works as well as most topical eye steroids and a few gents here stated it didn't help with their sleep but they noticed they could see better at night if I recall correct, which I may not but it was @The Old Guy who said that.
One of my Bouviers has a serious eye disease and requires endless eye drops, in order to keep the pressures down and avoid glaucoma, he gets melatonin everyday with his meal. The vet knows and encourages it as the veterinarian I work with is a traditional and naturopathic vet.
Please share how high you end up going, one gent here used 50 mg a night and never complained about hang overs, etc. but he had terrible insomnia. It is a versatile supplement and one I will continue with - thanks for sharing your info.

This is the one I personally take if I can chime in.

Thanks for the info.

I’ll have to take a look at the labels when I get a chance.
