Steroid compounds and melatonin/sleep

Morning,

I have always wondered why some steroids interrupt sleep more than others - disrupted or less sleep. This is meant for discussion as I am the farthest thing from an expert. Some compounds are worse but in general steroids impact neurotransmitter balance increasing neural alertness even when you are physically exhausted. One possible reason. I am not referring to trenbolone as I don't use it, but it is notorious for interfering with proper sleep.

They can blunt melatonin which is integral for sleep - especially deep and REM sleep. I would think taking melatonin would remedy the problem, but when I take specific compounds, this does not fix the problem.
If taking boldenone, for some this causes anxiety and restlessness and makes it hard to fall asleep and stay asleep.
I have read that increased red blood cell count can worsen sleep apnea which can have a negative impact.

Curious, what others have experienced and what they did to remedy the problem as sleep is integral to repair and a healthy lifestyle.
I have melatonin and Remeron (Mirtazapine) to use if needed in low dosages. It appears to be the drug many doctors reach for albeit some doctors still prescribe trazadone or amitriptyline.

thanks

Honestly I haven't noticed a big difference in sleep changes, but truthfully I have never analized it to see if it was happening. COuld be and I just chalked it up to the time of year, or my workload.

I do know deca sometimes gives me restless leg syndrome, drives me nuts, but I get up for about 15 minutes and go back to bed and it seems to calm down, but nothing more frustrated when you are just falling asleep and it happens.

Im someone who struggles significantly with sleep at the best if times. For some reason on current cycle Im sleeping as well as usual and significantly better than last cycle. Im gonna list out supps i take every night before bed. Many are dual purpose in that they have health benefits but also help sleep.
Magnesium threonate
Magnesium bisgycinate
L theanine
Glycine
NAC
Melatonin 10mg dual release

Magnesium Complex
L-Glutathione
HGH

I'm out like a light within 20-40minutes after that. Melatonin helps me fall asleep but doesn't help me stay asleep/feel rested compared to the above.

Have you tried the dual action melatonin? Has short and timed release.

sleep just doesn’t happen on tren for me, some guys get away with it.

if i do manage to fall asleep, i then wake up every hour like clockwork. on any other compound ive used/trt my struggle is still falling asleep, but once im out im out.

Sleep cocktail:
10mg dual action melatonin
L-theanine
5g Glycine
Mag Glycinate
Mag Citrate
50mg Apigenin
200mg Phosphatidylserine
Ashwaghanda

Then 2+ iu of growth. As you can see, sleep and I don’t get along. Doctor is completely against sleep aids so I’m just fucked unless I want to buy grey market.

Lemborexant (Dayvigo) is a good starter sleep med

yeah i’ve tried to get it prescribed but it was a no-go from my doc. did try trazodone but it wrecked me the next day every time i tried it
Jheez really? Surprising that he’d prescribe you trazo but be not dayvigo. A buddy of mine was buying dayvigo off pg, got tired of spending money on it, so he went to a walk in clinic and the doc prescribed him it. Definitely required a little bit of persuasion

That is wrong, considering sleep is such a medical concern for almost all health issues, any doctor should be willing to give you a non benzo/tried and proven old tricyclic anti - depressant as they are not addictive. Your body will rebound if you don't slowly decrease the dosage so there is a physical dependence of sorts, or use sporadically but it is not an opioid or benzo. Trazadone and Amitriptyline are both very old and work well. Remeron is a newer anti-depressant but the dosage you are given for sleep is about 1/4 to 1/5 what you would take for depression. Remeron/Mirtazapine has the added benefit of increased hunger if you are bulking. It is used in humans and animals 'off label' for sleep.
I am the first to reach for some of the items mentioned above (supplements/not drugs) and use some of them, but there are times I need something if I have a bout of insomnia.
Doctors hand out dangerous medications like candy and your doctor won't give you a medication that has been in use for 60 plus years with good results. I agree with your comment, felt groggy the next morning when I started Trazadone but stuck with it for a few weeks and it went away as my body adjusted. Same for Remeron which of the three is relatively new is you consider 30 years new.
I would go to a clinic if I was you and had sleeping issues if your own GP won't help you.

This is an interesting topic as one of the best supplements for liver protection, sleep, eye health, one of the most powerful antioxidants is melatonin but it has been shown to increase your chances of cardiovascular health issues for people who use it more than a year. The catch is it is with adults with chronic insomnia. Most insomnia is not caused by steroids, it is caused by stress - relationship issues, financial issues, medical issues, anxiety/depression so I often wonder is it the chicken or the egg.
Regardless, I rely on melatonin dual action like @T77. @CoolRick - you are not the first person I know who have the opposite reaction to sleep medications and it causes insomnia. You react to longer ester compounds quicker and make great progress in short cycles, just shows how different we all are. You are lucky Gaba works well go you as theoretically it is a great supplement, but it can't pass the blood brain barrier if it does not have a modified phenyl ring that crosses the BBB. Unfortunately it changes it to Phenibut, which is easily accessible and was used in Russia for cosmonauts while in space and had stress/anxiety issues. I have read multiple people say in higher dosages Gaba can pass the BBB. Do you mind me asking if you use a higher dosage? Phenibut periodic use works well, but it takes a long time to kick in and stays in your system a long time or it does with me the few times I have used it.

Thanks for all the comments gents.

I found 500- 1000mg GABA seems to work to calm me down. About the same for glycine too.

Magnesium, cherry juice, and box breathing works like a charm. Consistent wake up times are key too. I’ve gone through periods in my life where I couldn’t sleep for the life of me. To the point where I saw a sleep therapist in my early 20’s. He told me he was unaware of anyone ever dying from a lack of sleep. For whatever reason when I do have a bout of insomnia that calms me. Kinda killed that “fuck I just want sleep feeling” which at times pissed me off and kept me up more. I think most of it is sleep hygiene, people fuck around without ever realizing there are going to be some rough weeks/months on the road to unfucking your sleep. It’s human nature to want a quick fix, but it’s worth fixing naturally IMO.

You guys should know better. Melatonin with Tren/Deca, 19nors, is a big no. Gyno city. Use other sleep aids

On all heavy blasts which includes notorious Trensomnia, only four items. A mix of two supplements and two prescription medications aside from HGH

600mg magnesium biglysinate
400mg l-theanine
10mg lemborexant
3.75mg zopiclone
20ius hgh

how do you find sleep is post cycle if you’re leveraging Z drugs while on? my fear would be becoming dependant on them. although a large portion of society do rely on them 365 nights a year, freaks me out if they also stop working.

have been looking at trying dayvigo. i hear it’s metabolized the same pathway as modafinil though, so if you’re on modafinil it isn’t nearly as effective. ever heard of this?

Might be yet another one of those things that is different for everyone. I take 10mg melatonin nightly, only on 250mg nandrolone a week but no gyno. I also have zopiclone prescribed but use very sparingly. 4-5 years ago when my insomnia was running my life I ended up taking nightly for months. Coming off it was miserable.

250mg isn’t a “heavy blast” 😉
