@ajfromab, "If you know how to box you can still fucking kill someone with 18 oz gloves, especially body shots." that is my understanding too. I was always told the gloves are more to protect your hands than take away from the power of the punch. A hit to the head if a knock out shot and 18 oz gloves are on, it will still be a knockout shot. If you can knocked out with 14 oz gloves, you can get knocked out with 18 oz gloves but it will help prevent cuts.
I have not boxed in a ring as a sport with different glove sizes so this is going by what I have heard, read, or been told by guys who do. Guys here who have may can correct me if that is not correct.
I had to look up Jake Paul - didn't know who he was and who he has fought and he fought a lot of MMA guys who were once top of the heap but have retired or are well past their prime. I am a fan of Tyson from a boxing perspective and I hope he dismantles Paul or takes him out with an uppercut but I don't know what Paul gets from fighting a 57 year old, once best of best, fighter who hasn't really fought for 20 years other than the the Jones Jr. fight.
F if I know - when they box I hope it is with standard rules. I read yesterday the rules were announced but when I clicked on the link, it took me to another website. Does anyone know the rules for sure - have they been announced and agreed to by both camps and if they do, can they post them here please.
Just watched the 8 round Tyson vs. Jones Jr. fight and unless I was somehow in a twilight zone it was scored 7 rounds Tyson and 1 round Jones Jr. - how is that a draw? It was a show more than a fight but all the same Tyson threw some punches that if landed flush would have knocked Jr. down or out. Anyway - not that it makes one bit of difference in my life, I always liked watching Tyson fight when he was in his prime.
thx
