Dates for Carb up

Curious as to why it’s not more common to see folks carbing up with dates in the mix. Like on show day, most people lean towards rice cakes / honey / candy, and a few other common sources. I think dates would be a great option as they’re caloric density paired with a very good balance of fructose and glucose seems to me to be the better option, along with the bit of fibre to help from digesting too fast. Even as a pre-workout carb source, seems to be under-utilized.

Just curious if any of you has them in the mix for carbing up.

Fructose is mainly stored as liver glycogen where as starch carbs will mainly be stored as muscle glycogen.

Why is honey / jam so popular for carb ups then? Wouldn’t we be better off sticking to pure glucose sources?
Good question. I don’t have a definitive answer but my guess would be mainly due to the digestibility and overall density of it. I’m not sure what the make up of fructose/glucose honey has but I’m guessing it’s majority glucose?

If you look at the label on Jam, it has glucose & fructose.

Honey is a mixture of both, fructose & glucose.

Fructose stores in the liver, and that is why you can't fill out the muscles.

Better off eat a starch source of carbs to fill out.

I seen some guys fill, out on glucose.

Out of curiosity, what’s your go-to carb up source?

Digestibility and fiber content.
And you want to be careful with adding in foods you haven't eaten in months. When you're backstage most of the filling out should be done, if you're still trying to catch up you made a mistake along the way.
Down here it's a lot of rice cakes, Nutella , candy, honey. Too many people just take it as a precursor to the post show binge and eat way out of wack.

Fructose stores in the liver and it can only hold a small amount. Its easy to over spill on that and thats when you will see inflammatory effects and other nasty issue.
If you like fructose heavy foods then it should be limited to 10-20g max as thats apparently the average amount the liver will hold. You can test out your own bodies limit very easily by just taking X amounts of fructose until you see and feel the inflammatory spilover.
As long as you use up those amounts of stored fructose before consuming more you will not suffer poor health issues, but constant high fructose intake like people that eat hfcs foods or high table sugar content foods steadily then issues arise.

Cbum was carbing up on patatoes, no honey, no candy, no bullshit that will inflame your body prior to showing it off.

And fructose fuel cancer cells. Not really good for you at all.
Feels good though in small amounts. I like a little jam pre workout but im only getting about 10 grams fructose max. Thats once a day.
I Drink a juice box daily before work. Another 10g fructose for the day. Not overflowing and it gets used up before a refill.

Starch foods are glucose carbs, i dont understand what your saying there @Funnyman. Youve seen guys carb up on glucose, of course you have because thats what patatoes and rice are.1000016790.jpg

Fructose is trash and responsible for a lot of health issues. Dont overdue fructose. Really it should be shouted from the fuckin mountain tops for all to hear. The bullshit they teach us about food and diet is fuckin criminal. I have very strong feeling towards the assholes that fuck us all with our government nutrition advice. Poisin and lies for dollars.
