How much is too much, for limited membership gym .

100$ a month?? There had better be a lot of included stuff in that membership.. That's the highest membership I have heard of in Canada.
Unfortunately that is not uncommon today. Maybe a few years ago I would be shocked. But I’ve encountered a few gyms that charge around that per month.
It is a lot for a gym membership but if I compare it to mma gyms or yoga studios they charge well into the 100-300 range per month.
like a few other people I also have two memberships and combined it’s about 110-120 a month. In comparison to food and gear it’s still the cheapest out of them. 100 is still doable for me as long as it meets my requirements (24 hours and decent equipment).

I could see someone working minimum wage or a student opting for cheaper. But then again a Friday night out would equal to your membership. Or one extra shift a month would cover it.

I currently pay $60/ month for one membership that has two locations about the same distance away so I can change it up.
In the past I was in the habit of having two memberships at any given time and spending up $150 a month. Money well spent in my opinion.
I was recently in Grand Cayman and did a gym tour in hopes of a free workout the cost of a membership was $500USD a month!
I kept acting like it was reasonable during the whole tour. Nothing special, all really nice only thing that stood out was private change rooms with showers. There was no free workout to be had that day lol

I have 2 gym memberships both costing about 60 a month each and a full home gym with pendulum, smith, hack, cables, leg press etc…. I don’t look at gym prices. If it keeps me motivated I’m all for it
Home gym is beautiful only draw back is you don't get to see all these beautiful chick asses bouncing around. It get's kinda boring at home.

So new gym opening in my area, coming in at about 2 x what I currently pay, independent name, yet boasting 300 max limit membership, pics looks nice but nothing to make your draw drop. 24/ 7 access

Does a limited gym membership mean extra dollars for you ?

What your considered max $ for a membership ?
The cheapest I was able to get here for a descent gym that is not saturated by iphone warriors...was at Golds Gym .by 12 month...they toss in 2 free months... ..place is huge and no clustering...58/ month includes taxes

I have a hatred against golds. I was a member there in the 90s and one day i go and the doors are locked. No notice, just closed. They took everyone yearly payments and fucked off.
Goodlife came in a leased the building and honored peoples golds contracts so that how i became a goodlife member
Golds opened another big location here about 10 years ago and again they closed down, fucking people

Good life is super.... i train there in Kanata when I am in the area... They dont have this in Montreal

If it was not for the promo I would not take it....The have worlds ghm here which is good...but over crowded, because its cheap and too busy all the time

I track all my workouts, gym visits, and progress using www.gymstracker.com, and it helped me realize I wasn't using half the stuff I was paying for. Made it easier to figure out what I actually needed versus what looked cool on paper. Helped me stop wasting money and stick with a place that fit how I really train.

The most I paid was at a movati and it was like 90$ a month I think plus the crazy start up fee. It was pretty nice, I liked the atmosphere and the steam room. There was an Olympic lifting room that had lifting pads and CrossFit and calisthenics equipment, but it was busy as fuck sometimes and people seemed very flashy and over the top. It wasn’t really my kind of atmosphere.

Also I’ve watched a ton of vids in Pure and it has the status of course and the equipment but all of the people filming with tripods would bother me. I believe most people should do that in a private or their own gym. To me it’s like they’re taking the space hostage and that’s not fair if you’re paying a premium cost for a nice gym.

I dont mind training at places like the ymca, it’s my kind of gym because I like recreational sports sometimes and the pool is nice to have as well as where I am I constantly have younger guys coming up to asking me questions which I don’t mind most of the time. As long as I’m not in a superset or trying to focus.

I do enjoy good life but at times again it’s too busy for me. I did a fit4less membership last year and it was great until all the Indians started pouring in, next thing you know half of the equipment is broke and the whole place stinks like BO and ass. And that’s not a fucking joke. I moved to the one on the other side of the city due to the problems and then next thing you know it went from moderately busy to fucking insane. I give props to young guys who start training in their teens but you don’t need to roll in packs of half a dozen or more and take up half of the freeweight space to flex in the mirror and sit on your phones. Literally rolling up their t shirt sleeves to flex their tiny little puberty muscles 🤣. Most of the time it’s laughable but it can get annoying when I need the space they sit in for half an hour.

I just stick with the ymca while on summer vacation. It’s fine for me. But it has gotten more expensive the last few years. And they shut down the ones near my house during COVID. So who knows where I’ll end up next.

World is cheap and overcrowded, planet fitness is in my opinion not too bad but they don’t have the freeweight equipment I like to use. Fit4less the price is great but they’re only 24/4 and it’s gotten way too busy the last little while. You got a whole generation of young people who are obsessed with themselves and comparing themselves and filming themselves these days. It’s in bad taste and unhealthy if you ask me. Fuckin 16 year olds juiced right up even at the Y . It’s a little crazy these days trying to find the right place

I would pay 100+ monthly to have a well maintained gym without overcrowded facilities. This is so important to our lives that we shouldn’t cut costs at all and that would filter the asshole and broccoli kids.

My work provides a great gym for free, but I also have a $20 a month econofitness gym pass for when I'm on leave (or weekends) or didn't get a chance to workout earlier in the day.

Unfortunately there are still a fair share of broccoli heads at more expensive gyms. From my experience though, as long as you have an appreciable amount of muscle, they stay out of your way.

I pay $60, its a good gym big with lots of equipment busy time is after supper so during the day it's pretty quiet, I've also got a great garage gym that I put together for when we move to the acreage that collects dust in my garage lol.

Oh man, I go to YMCA here in Toronto. Its flooded with those broccoli kids, and people sitting on there damn cellphones. That and those girls that do strickly hips thrusts then call it a day lolol. Toronto needs a good gym. I keep saying to Dorian at Pure he needs to open one near downtown. He wants to, but location is the thing.

That would cost a fuckin fortune for sure

Man I'm paying $13.76/mth for Crunch any facility they have taxes in. I would pay $100/mth for another Ron's Gym. Run down equipment, beat up facilities, stinks to the high heaven but damn it there were women there bigger than I was. Pure bodybuilding gym

We had a place just like that called Fultons in St Catharines. Best old dusty rusted equipment and at most there would be 5 people in there. Open 24/7/365. Grunting and stringers allowed. Unfortunately they had to shut down during Covid after idek how many decades I think since the early 80s maybe they were open. Coaches worked with guys there and I would often see posing practice in the back, and people eating their prepped meals between workouts. Real old school body building gym

Old School Gyms are the best. I started at Mr. Fitness in Etobicoke back in 1988, great atmosphere and lots of original Nautilus equipment (really miss that back pullover machine), paid 400 bucks/year back then and it was really worth it. Too bad Covid took a toll on it and it went under. Gyms like that are what I miss, and am willing to pay top coin mostly for the equipment. Remember Monster gym popped out and had decent line up, dunno if that's the case nowadays. I'm stuck at Goodlife paying 15 bucks by-weekly, mainly for being there for over 15 years. somewhat decent equipment that gets the job done, but way overcrowded especially in the summer time with these broccoli heads getting in the way and being annoying.
