sleep apnea

My machine has a "test mask" button thing.. Before I go to bed I'll test the mask fit and it tells you if its leaking.. I have to tighten it so much to get it to seal, but I know when I move an inch, it leaks again regardless.. Last night I didn't tighten it as much as I needed to because I just didn't want to get frustrated with it.. I think I slept better regardless of the leak.

I'll turn it up tonight and leave the straps as is.

What is your pressure? Mine was set to 5.8. I'll try 6.5 tonight
My pressure is set at 11.

At five or six, you should not be getting leaks due to high pressure so it must be the fit . They’ll put the pressure as high as nine for an infant, lol
Can you tell if it’s leaking from the top or the bottom? This sounds weird, but if it’s leaking from the top, loosen the bottom without adjusting the other straps and if it’s leaking from the bottom, try loosening the head strap.

When one end is too tight, it pulls the other off. Once you get used to it having both ends slightly loose will allow it to move around a little but not actually leak and it’s far more comfortable. It’s a process I use a sharpie marker to put a line on the straps so I know I’m always setting it to the same place. And can adjust as the strap stretches out.

Mine is set to 9 right now, normally 8.4, but since I got the whooping cough, I had to increase the pressure or I felt like I wasn’t getting enough air.
Fuck and I read yesterday it could take 6 months to be completely healed from this.

When you get the nasal mask, just keep increasing it till you stop snoring. This way you can fit the mask looser, but still get the benefits.

Right now you are just putting in time till you get a proper mask that will fit with a beard.

Good info..

Mine leaks around the bottom.. I do not think the masks sits low enough.. its literally just under my bottom lip. If I pull it down further, then the top of the mask does not seal around the contour of my nose.. I think the mask is just too short.

I'll try 8 tonight lol..

and I'll try adjust the straps as you mention.

looking forward to the nasal mask.. I think the tight strap issue will be resovled.

The full mask sits just under my bottom lip.. I trimmed that right down and it helped a lot.

Fell asleep on 9 for pressure.. Woke up 6 1/2 hours later to the machine off??? I couldn't figure wtf happened to turn it off. Ideas? I'm emailing the place I got it from today.

I thought the machine turned itself off a couple nights ago, but I brushed it off.. But it was deffinitely off when I woke up at 5ish this morning

Does it have a timer. Did you read the instructions you got with the machine, or go online and read the instructions? If not I would start there.

Mine doesn’t, just blasts out, lol.

My best one was when I woke with the air going in my nose and blasting out my mouth, lol.
the air sense 10 says “leak detected check connections” or something of that sort if the leak is too bad or if you pull the water reservoir out when it’s on lol

That's a good point because usually if I add water (I've only done a few times as I usually run it dry) it eventually acts up and shuts off since I often don't put everything back on tight enough.

i also run mine dry. can’t be bothered to add water and don’t find it really makes a difference anyway since i use the full face mask

I read the manual yes, but to be honest it really didn't have much info in it..

After thinking about it, I had to unlock the clinical settings using a youtube video to maually adjust the pressure.. I'm guess there is something in there.

I filled it up with water last nighht and it ran for over 6 hours, so I don;t think it was that.

Couldn't find a timer...

But when I went to bed last night, the water tank was bone dry.. I figured that was the reason maybe, but when I woke up today the machine was still going and the tank was dry again.

When I first started using it, a tank would last a few nights, now it won't last a night. I'll have to look into that.

Im at 9 for a pressure and its going well, so I'll try 10 tonight

You can adjust in increments of 0.2 as I am sure you probably know that....I would make more subtle adjustments off the start.
Do you have the humidity on auto? Even in 8.5hrs of use for me, my tank is not dry overnight, it is pretty low but never dry.
I also use the Air Sense 10, I could help you with settings if you would like, send me a message anytime.

Also, I suggest a hose cover as mentioned earlier in the thread. The hose cover helps with the humidity control as well as just pure comfort so you're not snuggling with the plastic.
hang it over your bed frame or put up a hook so it hangs down above you instead of having you snuggle it hahaha. the hose cover makes a difference when i do run water in my machine. i also have the air sense 10.
