Thats sound advice goldenrod..and very much appreciated also. Thats why I come to this forum. At present I'm on a few holidays and was honestly thinking of calling my family doctor when I'm back next week for an ecg....undecided if I'm going to tell him yet....not sure if I want this on my medical record as insurance and other companies will have access to it. I think I'll wait to see what they find......I want to do more research too...
I would not tell my doctor unless something is found. My comment was if you go and get checked out, get off the Reta long enough to have it clear your system. To prevent going down a rabbit hole that may be 100% because of the Reta and will disappear in time, I would share it if something is found. Just tell the doctor, I never thought of it but to lose some BF, I started using low dose Reta - you will probably get a lecture or if the doctor gives a shit they will offer you a prescription GLP-1 agonist.
Agreed, I have said I would never tell a doctor I take any PED's albeit Reta may not be considered a PED, but it is used in sport. Every issue you ever have will be blamed on the unapproved PED which does not rid their responsibility to ensure it isn't something else.
They do not do this with people who smoke, or abused rec drugs so this should be part of the picture and nothing more for the doctor.
As for insurance companies having access to this, they do not without your permission end stop. That is not debatable, your medical history is yours and the doctor has a responsibility to ensure it is secure. Naturopaths can't talk to your doctor unless you give them permission, and if they do they are breaking the law.
If you need to get life insurance in the future, it could impact the rate you pay or make you uninsurable, but as I have said before and this is not up for debate, take rec drugs, become an alcoholic, smoke, take PED's and this causes your death but you were not doing this when you qualified - it has no impact on your life insurance. Actuaries take into account the physical will miss some medical issues, people will start unhealthy habits after, and this will lead to a certain amount of deaths, disabilities, and critical illnesses.
All the same, I don't want anything on my medical file except what I consider relevant. Doctors are controlled by PHIPA and only share past medical info when required to do so by law or in emergencies to save your life.
Off topic, but it is good to keep it off your medical file, but if a doctor determines you have a heart arrhythmia, expect a lot more than a basic EKG if the doctor sends you to a specialist.
