Two weeks in low dose reta 1.75mg/wk - 500mcg every other day - and I just started experiencing irregular heart beat.

I notice it when I wake up from sleeping - no other times - a bit concerning - I can actually feel my wrist pulse - and every 6th or 7th heartbeat has
a longer duration between it and the next.

Anyone else experience this ?

Did some research - found that this was a side effect and documented in 2-11% of the people taking it in the Eli Lilly study and that it may go away on its own.

Anything I can take - electrolytes ? or other supplement to reduce or eliminate this ?

Instead of adding other things why not just lower the dose and see if that helps..

Have you ever experienced this before? Are you on anything else?
Yes - I used to be a bouncer for a few years - the bars gave you all the free coke you could drink - one week I drank alot of coke during the nights - and ended up with the same afib - disconcerting to say the least- caffeine related I suppose - dropped the coke & all went back to normal - this was many years ago...

I could - and it's a good suggestion Strongman - but I'm already on a low dose - 1.75mg / week - and reading the side effects from eli lilly - this only happened with mid dosages - so 3+ mg....so I decided to try something else....

So I did more research and it seems that irregular heartbeats / palpatations / afib can be caused by an electrolyte imbalance.

I don't take any electrolytes - never have - my son does - so he gave me something called Liquid IV hydration multiplier - a small pack you mix in with water - electrolyte drink mix - apple - not the best tasting drink - but hey - drank a whole bottle of this yesterday evening - woke up this morning feeling fine - no issues - I'm hoping this was the fix..... - I'll drink another today & post in the next few days.....keeping my fingers crossed that this fixes the issue.

Be careful, anything heart related is concerning. We have to listen to our bodies and if it persists you may want to talk to your doctor.

That's solid advice Redz - I'm going to keep the electrolytes going for a few days- I've upped my reta dose just today to 2.25mg/wk - and see how things work out. Reading on reddit - it does say that some of this does dissipate over a short period of time....but I'm not sold on my info from reddit - I'll keep reading and posting my results.

My resting heart rate went up but didnt notice irregular heart rate.
Hopefully the electrolytes keep working.
Hydration seems to be a big concern when on any glp meds so stay on top of it.

I haven't really noticed if my hr went up - although I didn't track it- but I've never really used electrolytes. Just didn't expect any sides from such a low dose of reta - but I've never been on any glp meds before - definitely going to stay on top of my electrolytes for the next few days.

I only use low dose and my HR went up around 10 beats a min. Think the max i went was 2.5

That's significant - 10bpm - did it come back down eventually ? or are you still in the early stages of reta ?
Ive used reta a few times now. I think it did come down some eventually but i kinda just got used to it. Doesnt really bother me cause i knew that it was coming. That's the glucagon in the reta doing that.
After coming off, it did go back to normal

reta elevated my resting heart rate by 10BPM over the course of a month. after getting off it took about a month to return back to baseline. in theory it should make your heart rate variability worse too because it's a Glucagon receptor agonist and makes your body burn more energy at rest. im relatively fit, so this was not a concern for me ( I can run a 5k in under 20 mins)

Dam son - that's not bad time for a 5k - wish I could do that. I take the hr was elevated during sleeping too ?
Did the reta help you get that fit ? How long were you on it ? How much did you take ? and how much did you loose if you don't mind me asking.
