not everyone's cup of tea, but got some great news this week

Gawd it’s been a long time since I’ve eaten grouse! Can’t quite tell, what kind are they?

ruff grouse is the best tasting bird I've ever had. Better than any chicken or turkey...

Spruce grouse is OK... depends on what they've been eating.. If they've been eating spuce needles they get woody tasting.. IF thats the case you need to soak the in butter milk over night. Helps get that taste out
 
Thought maybe ruffed. Not familiar with the spruce but what we have here that is my favorite Is the blue grouce. It’s the biggest of all the grouce we have.

You’ll have to throw in a couple squirrels on your next hunt lol

Funny.. I didn't take much look at the grouse I shot. I shot 2 of them in spruce bush so I assumed they were spruce grouse. When I cleaned the up today, they were all ruff grouse.
 
Before anyone gets wound up that I wasn't sure what I was shooting..

we have a limit of 5 spruce grouse and 5 ruff grouse. I only shot 3, so didn't matter if they were ruff or spruce..

And they are are actually a bit tricky to tell apart some times.
