Fitness and lifespan: Is too much exercise harmful?

Well the 3 people that I have met in my life might fit the classification of “too much exercise “ the rest of the population would go under the classification of puppy pounding

Lol! Puppy pounding.

how can they say they actually lived longer then they would have if they had done no exercise? How would they know for a fact this is true? I've always wondered this anytime anyone makes the claim this or that can increase your life span.

What they do is use average lifespans for that persons country or region and take it from there. For example Canada has a life expectancy of 82.3 years. This takes into account everything from childhood mortality (which Canada has awesome protection against) to premature deaths from cancer and heart disease. You look at your participants age at death and take it from there.
An interesting segue is our life expectancy may be lowering because of the many deaths from the opioid crisis. Not a good thing.

Just have a look at the people still living with diminished capacity.

Title of the article pisses me off and makes me doubt the writers intelligence, pet peeve of mine.
"Too much"
As in " Is too much exercise harmful?"
"Can you eat too much protein?"
"Can you masturbate too much?"

Seeing as the definition of "too" in this case equals something like "to an excessive extent or degree; beyond what is desirable, fitting, or right"
then it seems to me that it is a self defining statement, No?

" Is too much exercise harmful?" Yes of course - if over use causes damage it was "too" much
"Can you eat too much protein?" Yes of course - if you eat 100lbs of steak and it backs up into your windpipe and you choke to death it was "too" much
"Can you masturbate too much?" Yes - if you end up grinding your dick down into a bloody little stump it was "too" much

Doth I protest too much?

There I was thinking when I read the title, it has to be about rhabdomyolysis having a negative long term effect on kidneys.
What if we use the definition of too as, to a higher degree than is desirable, permissible, or possible; excessively. Is that better?

Methinks thou doth protests too much.
