Blood pressure

shoppers says 134/82

I don't find the shoppers ones accurate. It's the same as my doctors office readings.. When you use the shoppers onces, you've already driven to the store, (raises BP sometimes), walked the parking lot, walked the asiles etc.. it all gives bad readings.

Doc told me get my own monitor (digital high quality) and take my BP when I wake up, after I've been sitting and relaxed for 10-15 mins and just before I fall asleep laying in bed. Those are accurate readings.

156/76 then within 5 minutes it dropped to 136/69. These reading were taken all immediately after my last set on a heavy workout day. Not sure why but I wanted to see how bad it was while I was still pumped up. People on here are talking lately about taking readings standing and during active parts of the day rather than just during rest.

Well folks. Just looking for a little insight. I plan to try and keep longevity my largest concern. So I've been taking the steps to help achieve that.

I've been taking my bp measurements for awhile now but just yesterday picked up a glucose monitor as diabetes has appeared in my family from time to time.

Stats
27y/o
6'
195lbs
12-13% bf (an honest estimate)

This mornings measurements fasted

Blood glucose 4.4mmol
Blood pressure 129/89
Beats per minute 57 (I've brought it down over 5 months from 80ish on average)

Current daily supplementation

Omega 3 6g epa/dha
Citrus bergamot 1g
Potassium citrate 6-800mg
Coq 10 400mg
NAC 2g
Vit D3 3-4000ius
Inj. L carnitine 1g
Curcumin 1g
Coated Aspirin 81mg (before bed)
P5P 200mg
UGL cialis 10mg

Cardio 30 minutes 4x weekly. 20 minutes running at 11km/h. Then 10 minutes walking inclined at 6km/h

Water intake 3-4L
Currently eating at maintenance of 2900 cals a day

I don't get why I can't seem to be able to bring my bp down. It's sat consistently at 130-135 for months and I've been running this full supplementation for about 2 months.

Should I up the fish oil to 10g as I've seen suggested? I know 129 isn't crazy high but I'd like to see it lower. I do have an anxiety disorder that does influence it some.
No magnesium biglycinate? Are your lipids in check? Continuing to do lots of cardio will help. Also some people are salt sensitive and I know the bodybuilding community doesn't really mention that and they say, "noo, you need salt" my blood pressure was ten points higher or more just from not watching my salt intake while eating healthy. I chose cold cuts or salty seasonings because I thought it would help my training.

Very true. Cold cuts should be avoided. I'm thinking about investing in a deli slicer to cut my own. That's always a healthy option

I'm a heavy user and I promote it for most folks especially athletes. You are right though, the community at large seems to forget about individual differences from time to time. I believe I've seen at least one meta analysis that suggested around 15% of people are in the same boat as you, that's not an insignificant number.

Not all cold cuts are made equally. Some of the commercial stuff is like 20% salt. The stuff I make is around 7%.
Nice yea being a butcher you would know best. I think there's nitrates or something too that are put into some cold cuts as well? I was thinking about making my own salami or summer sausage sometime. It's so delicious if it was just healthier I'd eat it a lot more

Nitrates are fine. People go on and on about them but the only time they would be dangerous is if you burned it and inhaled the fumes.
By the time you eat the cold cuts, about 50% of the nitrates have already disapated.

123/80 today. Doing alot better lately. Almost feel I might be able to lower my telmisartan dose down to 20 mg per day. Cardio seems to be helping also.
