Ran across this the other day .

(PDF) The Effect of Sodium Bicarbonate Ingestion on Back Squat and Bench Press Exercise to Failure
https://www.researchgate.net/public...ack_Squat_and_Bench_Press_Exercise_to_Failure

This is a case study where people performing 80% of 1 rep max did back squats and bench press with and without baking soda.

Baking soda improved the total amount of repetitions performed in the back squat , not as much in bench press . However in all cases blood lactate was increased , not reduced . However it was buffered which increased the actual amounts of volume and workload , compared to a persons perceived exhaustion.

Has anyone tried this?
Thinking about trying it out but the doses required are hard to understand.
I’ve read 3.5 tbsp would be good for someone about 200 lbs . But other places suggest much higher doses.
Also it must be pre loaded and timing is hard to understand . Some of the things I’ve read suggest pre load early in the day several times building up before the resistance training. Some say just use it pre workout.

What’s everyone’s thoughts on this ?

Tried it a long time ago, can't remember it being very effective or why exactly it never remained a staple but it did not so....
