Had a recent discussion with a friend who has gone on gear for the first time
I gave him the advice of how important bloodwork is and to monitor his body’s reaction to what he is taking

He told me he was honest with his Dr and told him exactly his doses and what compounds he was taking and his Dr has taken an active role in harm reduction via routine bloodwork

My Dr took a strip off me and told me I was an idiot but also helped with bloodwork

So my question

Are Dr,s becoming more accepting to the use of gear . Does your Dr know if you are on gear ?

Mine does as he prescribed it. He’s younger and much more open minded than my old dr who retired.

No real right answer - some docs take PED's and will discuss it, but in general no - most are not taught well about hormones (based on my experience). You run the risk of being a patient with a medical file (front page - uses steroids) that will lead all doctors to believe many medical issues, that have nothing to do with being bigger/more muscular/on PED's, are caused by this. Take a person with higher ALT all the time which is indicative of long term liver damage vs GGT which will go up with a few drinks or Tylenol & fatty liver (just a few causes of GGT, but is considered the most sensitive liver test and just one small piece of the overall picture of your liver health). You work out, have more muscle mass hence doctors don't order an ultrasound or do further blood work. It is remiss on the part of the doctor and hope on the side of the patient. Meanwhile you could have inflammation (which may lead to permanent damage) or damage in you liver already that will not get better if you don't remove the cause or try to treat it.

High BP and they know you take steroids - many docs will tell you stop taking PED's / just like they will tell you to stop smoking, but most will give your BP meds. Many patients can hide it - you are just a naturally larger guy who works out and doctors don't understand PED's, but there comes a point where it is really is hard to hide it. Take a 270 lb man that is muscles, vascular, and has a small waist - could be the 1 in 1,000,000 that can do it naturally, but most are clearly taking something.
My creatinine was a few points over normal and my doctor say many with more muscle have this issue and if you exercise a lot - this can cause it. It is back to normal, but he is testing it every 6 months know to ensure it is not something creeping up as many huge people who train like professional athletes have normal creatinine and liver enzymes.

I recall seeing an endocrinologist regarding TRT and fertility issues - on prescribed TRT, his exact letter to my GP, which I have a copy of - ..... claims he has does not used steroids and never abused them. In other words he did not believe me. Never once did he tell my shrunken testes and TRT caused Azoospermia. Hard to fathom, but fact.

If I was going to discuss any PED usage with a doctor, I would get to know them, talk about injuries and healing, TRT and concerns and how you feel and see what their take on the subject is. Discuss side effects and the fact you work out, but keep getting injured and hear people talk, but care about your health. See if it goes anywhere. Most doctors are becoming very open with people. I heard my old doc talking to people in the hallway, if you don't quit soon you will end up coughing up pieces of your lungs. Ever wonder why the world's leading cause of cancer deaths has 1 day to promote awareness compared to the less lethal types, but just as important, have over 30 days a year. Why - you did it to yourself if you smoked.

I would not go down that road without knowing the doctor well.

I think my doctor is in the middle. He will help me out with blood tests and listen to me without tearing a strip off me, but on the other end he does caution against PED usage overall. I still feel comfortable with him and he never makes me feel like I can't come to him with any concerns.

I think the doctors have painted themselves into a corner when they politicized hormone treatment to support “trans” ideology.
I mean, how can you say testosterone treatment is bad for a grown 200+ lbs man, but ok, actually better than ok, it is “life saving” treatment for a 80 lb 13 yr old girl?

I actually made this argument with my previous doctor years ago. And because he couldnt provide an answer that justified it, he just got real mad. Lol
