sleep apnea

Got some Flonase today.

It’s not doing shit for me tonight. I think I have a stuffy nose due to spring allergies and I cannot breathe through my nose.

2 squirts of Flonase has done nothing.

I read the manual and apparently it’s supposed to be used every day, preferably in the morning, over a period of time before it’s effective.

It’s more a daily medication than a use when needed type thing.

I haven’t tried ice yet, but I will. I don’t see the point in trying ice if I can’t wear the mask due to nasal blockage.

I don’t think I’m dependent on stuff like Otravin because I never used it every day. Onyl when stuffy

I had Flonase before, I may be wrong but I thought it took a couple months of use before it worked it's full potential

I couldn't breathe through my nose last night at all.. I tried to wear my nasal mask, but took it off after 10 mins or so.. there was no way I could sleep.. Fell asleep right away and woke up breathign through my nose.. It's totally clear..

I have very mild allegeries to outside stuff.. guessing I will need allegery during the day to keep my nose from clogging if I want to keep using the machine

Buy one of the NeilMed bottles and do a sinus rinse before bed? I get tons of seasonal allergies, I just do a sinus rinse in the morning and before bed and man it clears you out.

i have a nettie pot with the saline packets.. I use it with a sinus cold.. My nose congestion is not that bad. I didn't even noticed it until couldn't unclog it before I put mask on..

i just came back from a atv ride through all the poplar fluff and spring spores.. I took a claritin before I went and my nose is nice and clear.

I find Flonase works fairly quick for me.

I also find it counters the stuffy feeling I get from Cialis.

Not sure if it’s good to take Flonase long term though.

The downside to Otravin (even though it works extremely well) is long term use creates a rebound effect, where you become congested more if you don’t use it. Likely why they only recommend short term use to combat this.

Kinda like taking ephedrine daily, after months of use, you feel drained unless you take ephedrine. I’ve been there and done that with ephedrine, took months to feel normal after a couple months of daily abuse.

So, I had a sleep study done about 3 weeks ago, was a heck of a lot more than a Ring. Tubes in my nose and a pile of electrodes all over my body.

Had a call with the dr yesterday and I have mild sleep apnea. His suggestions were:

Lose weight
Get a CPAP
Get a dental device

So went on kijiji and found a CPAP and bought a new mask.

Tried it last night and slept very well.

@animal-inside found a few people selling them for between $200-$400 and a few will ship which might be easier for you.

Thread is 14 pages long my friend lol.. I bought a new cpap for 1000$ direct from website, so not sleep study place.. I've been using it since January lol.

But yes I looked on line.. at that time I did not find any for 200-400.. All the decent ones on kijiji were 800-1000 or more.. It's liekly people who bought the machine from sleep study place for 2000-3000 so they feel like 1000$ used is a good price.. which it is.. but you can buy the same machine new from websites for 1000$.

i think I might be on to something...

Without the cpap machine, I always fell asleep with my mouth open, but I always wake up with my mouth closed and nose breathing...

My struggle with cpap is falling asleep with my mouth closed and nose breathing.. Not sure why, I struggle immensely... I tried nasal sprays etc.. and the only ones that work at the bad ones like Dristan..

Without dristan, I can only fall asleep with the machine on about 75% of the time.. without dristan, I wake up around 3 or 4am and have to take the machine off..

The other day I tried breathe right nasal strips... It's only been a handful of nights using them, but they seem to be a game changer for me.. I fall asleep fairly quickly and I have been able to sleep with the machine on about 6-8 hours without taking it off.

When you get tired of the dents on your nose from the breathe right strips, buy the magnetic ones off of Amazon. You stick 2 pieces of metal on your nose and then a plastic bridge with magnets attaches and it opens your nostrils. Nothing resting on the bridge of your nose.

Only downside is a couple of times I have knocked it off in my sleep.

I've seen ads for those.. I don't mind the strips though.
