At 41 I love this post. I have aching in my shoulders for sure and I've just been dialing back a bit here and there until it's under control, but I've been eyeing deca for a while and I'm about ready to jump on that train.
Thanks for the insight!
I have had hurting shoulders pretty much all my life from my job and the renovation labour work I do as a hobby. But the last couple years that has reduced. At times my shoulders would get so bad it would be tough to lift my arms up. I don’t think being a shorter dude, who lifts a carry’s things like a 280lb 6’5” man helps either, lol.
So I have a tip you can try, and I found it worked, was so simple that I thought no way that would help.
Roll your lats. Especially the outter edge. What I did was use a lacrosse ball in a long tube sock (so you don’t drop it on the floor) and then against a wall rolled around in there looking for the spots that hurt. When I first did it, the pain was almost unbearable. Now I get almost no pain unless I become a lazy ass and don’t roll it for a couple weeks (we all do that, lol).
I was watching a vid one night when I couldn’t sleep where a guy was getting deep tissue massage done on his lats for a shoulder issue and I thought, hey why not try it.
See when you have muscle imbalances from tight muscles, things don’t track where they are supposed to and it causes issues, like sore shoulders that you thought was a rotor cuff injury from training, but in reality your injury was from a tight lat or trap, pulling your should out of position causing the rotor cuff inflammation issue.
I used deca now not because I’m fixing an issue, it’s because I’m almost mid 50’s and my belief is, at this age your body starts to slow production of pretty much everything, so I would bet that you don’t produce as much joint juice, your discs are getting harder (maybe the lack of juice or lower blood flow speeds this) and in the fall when things get colder and the air dries, I believe your body dries out. So I run a tiny bit of deca in the fall when I notice the change happening. My thought is deca restores things to a point, maybe prolonging my age related decline, lol.
