Athlete-yes
Entertainer-to a certain degree but no where close to what he is truly known for so I will say no
Politician- he had to be political, but not in the sense of running or holding office
 
We have a dead male athlete who lived in the 19th and 20th centuries. Sucked into politics, but not governmental type.

The dude who brought Okinawa-te to Japan. He had to take the throws out to placate Jigaro Kano who was the head of Judo at the Kodokan. Then he had to change the name Karate which had a literal translation of China Hand to Empty hand to placate the anti-Chinese sentiment of the times.
