TRT+Deca w/neck injury

Hey everyone,

Just a new guy with questions about Deca. Some background - I have a herniated disc in my neck, which has caused some weakness in my right arm along with all the pain/discomfort associated with that. I’ve been doing Physio/massage therapy religiously and have seen solid progress, but this injury came in part due to severely reduced disc thickness. So it’s going to be a chronic issue.

I’ve been on 140mg/week TRT for about 2 years. Do bloodwork every 3 months. My only other experience is Anavar and I loved it, but can’t find any right now.

I was also prescribed BPC157, which I have run for 6 weeks so far and seen some positives from.

My question is around Deca. Could I incorporate deca with my TRT in a moderate dose and see some benefits with my neck? Would there be a magic dosage where I got some gains in the gym, benefits with my neck, and didn’t throw my bloodwork off too much?

Open to anything that you guys have to share. Thanks!

Morning,

You were prescribed BPC157? By a GP or specialist and if so, who filled the prescription considering it is only compounded at a few small/non traditional pharmacies. One person posted the DIN number and it does not exist. The script was legit, which is beyond comprehension considering it was in Canada and BPC157 is not an approved drug for prescribing hence medical license is on the line.
Happy for you, but very curious who did this and who is going to fill it.
As for Deca, not a magic cure but may help. There is another post recently put up regarding Deca and many of us get into rehab, supplements, Deca/NPP usage, etc. If I was you I would start low and see if you have any relief.
I am referring to 50 mg a week for two weeks. It is a long ester so give it a few weeks, if no relief, maybe 100 or 150 mg. No one can tell you for certain which dosage will provide relief or if it will at all.

Based on health and LVH - you want to use the lowest dosage possible of the drug to help your quality of life. It appears you are looking for pain relief more so than healing as the damage is done and most likely the disk thickness is not coming back. That being said, I am not a radiologist or Ortho. I know my bones have thickened, as have my tendons, ligaments, due to decades of lifting weights / working on a farm etc. as my body had to adapt to move the weight. I state, "I know" as I had a bone scan once, and two MRI's to diagnose what the issue was and it wasn't serious, but the doctor commented you have no bone loss/your bones are thicker (not longer) as are your connective tissue.

Have you tried any supplements like cod liver oil or curcumin for relief? NSAIDS are great, but only for short periods or your kidneys will get pissed and you could have bleeding issues.

Good luck with getting past the injury and keeping active.

I dont think deca will help in any way other then strengthening neck muscles if you do the exercises.

The BPC157 was prescribed by a naturopath and filled by Kripps pharmacy in Vancouver. FWIW, it was not covered by my benefits plan, which I’m sure is no surprise.

To be honest, I’m not sure I would go this route again. It was definitely more expensive than what would have been available through a supplier, and I don’t feel that it’s worked so well that the added cost was a good investment.

I’ve been using omegas and APA for supplements (aside from what I normally take).

I appreciate your feedback - I’ve seen it written that Deca can provide increase collagen synthesis/regeneration, and was hoping to hear more real-world accounts about that. Anything I can do to prolong a disc fusion surgery is worth trying, I think.

Deca has been studied to reduce pain in people with joint and connective tissue pain by 52% at 100mg per week.

It would likely speed up recovery a bit. Given its collagen synthesis, anti inflammatory, anabolic and joint lubrication effects.

That said, I think its the most toxic of all common AAS to your brain. So supplementing a decent dose of melatonin at night can at least offset some damage. Letting e2 go as high as still feels good too.

It can have heart remodeling potential moreso than other steroids. So blood pressure management becomes very important. Telmisartan has been shown to stop the remodeling effects in a study.

I'd use NPP personally since deca can be a mixed bag for a lot of guys in terms of side effects.

Prami or caber for prolactin control could be necessary.

I agree with goldenrod on the circumin. A 95% circumin extract with black pepper added is fairly powerful as an anti inflammatory. It has been compared to high dose NSAIDs in studies. I'd start there first personally.

Per my comment and @Monk on Tren - if you have not tried SAM-e, it did as well as celebrex without the bad side effects. Difference: Celebrex kicked in quickly, S-adenosylmethionine kicked in for pain relief to the same degree in two weeks. I posted the double blind placebo study in the health section years ago. Further, your liver will love you you if you take SAM-e, as good as and better than NAC (again double blind placebo studies for liver protection). If you take anti-depressants or mood altering prescriptions, please read as there can be a contradiction and may be worth speaking with a Naturopath.
As for curcumin/turmeric - I should have added it but adding in piperine can increase the bioavailability by 2,000%. 8 black peppercorns are a great source of piperine and it was the monks who stated black pepper corns (8 approximately a day) is the perfect food for antioxidants and anti-inflammatory benefits. It helps you absorb so many supplements/foods to a better degree, plus it is just delicious lol.

@NyTrain585 - I will never understand how/why a legit pharmacy who compounds as well, would fill a prescription for a product that can't be prescribed legally in Canada. It should be allowed, but it is not hence they run the risk if anyone has a contradiction or side effect even if it isn't due to the BPC157. It is unapproved for human usage and is considered experimental.

@Goldenrod - thank you so much for your input here. Curcumin and peppercorns are an easy thing to implement, and as a tradesman, I’ve always got some kind of inflammation anyways. I also appreciate your thoughts on deca, dosages, and what to pay attention to. Thank you for passing this knowledge along.

@Monk on Tren - I appreciate your inputs as well, thank you. Do you feel that with 50-100mg/week dosages, the sides you’ve described are likely? I’ve only briefly scanned over NPP - enough to read that it’s a faster acting ester. Would this allow me to do a shorter cycle of a similar dose, then clean up before my next round of bloodwork?

I can’t express how much I appreciate everyone here for sharing their knowledge. This is such a wealth of information!

I don't think compounds will help with disc issues.

Corticosteroid shots probably your best bet.

Deca helps with inflammation, but the pain comes back right after you stop.

Have you visited a pain clinic? Injections are really the best bet.

Do the Deca, don't lift heavy, pain comes back 2-3 months post cycle on 600mg/wk so idk what it will be like with a little dose like that. I have herniated discs and bone spurs on t6/7
