The King - Ronnie Coleman

The documetary was well done. Same team behind GI1 and GI2 which were both well done also. My opinion of Ronnie is he trained insane as did everyone down at Metroflex and now he is paying the price for it. 1999 Mr Olympia is when Coleman in my opinion looked his absolute best. I still think to this day nobody will ever touch that look he had in 1999 with symmetry, conditioning and size all tied together. Here are some photos of 1999 Olympia: Front lat spread = lights out, game over

Yeah he looked great that year.

My all time favorite will always be Dorian Yates though. I never really liked Ronnie’s abs.

You are kidding correct? Because there are multiple pro guys saying Ronnie pushed it way past the limit. Industry level was concise Ronnies was different. I also think the likes of Larry Wheels are what BBing needs, he in the same breath of Ronnie are guys pushing it and why not?

Are you an IfBB fighting stereotypes? Share your experiences as you said we are fighting this and that. You are aligning with whom>?

I haven't had a good heated debate on this new site yet, so, fine i'll entertain you lol.

Wow you really took a simple movie review serious and got really worked up eh lol... Just because people dont agree with you doesn't make them kids.

Who said anything about fighting a stereotype? I never said anything about that? not sure where your coming up with his lol

Yes Ronnie pushed it way past the limits, I know that, you know that... but there is no denying that viewers who don't know bodybuilding (aside from this video) will walk away from this Documentary think its going to ruin your future, to be a pro bodybuilder, when the reality there are many IFBB pro's who have healthy & lengthy lives post-retirement.

We all push ourselves too far if we are true bodybuilders. Honestly my colon likely would have not given me issues if I didn’t try to jam in 6000 cal of real clean food and make it process it every day. How many on here have digestive issue on a regular basis from over eating? Or how about blood pressure. It shocks me how many are on blood pressure meds because of being more muscular. As I was approaching 200 lbs mine was creeping up there, I was averaging 130/80, now I’ve lost some weight dropped my gear to trt and it’s back down to 115/70. I bet at 200 lbs I’d need meds of some sort.
How many of us have bad knees, or shoulders, or some injury from the gym because we were pushing the envelope.
We don’t need, nor do I care if others look down at us. What we do is pretty silly if you think about it, we lie to ourselves and say it is making us healthier, lol. But I don’t care, I enjoy it and don’t need to justify what I do to others.

Remember I’m only talking about the truly dedicated of us. The ones who train almost every day, eat our six meals, take our supplements and live a structured life. Half ass ‘bodybuilders’ don’t count, lol.

So my point is real bodybuilders will never really be accepted by the majority of average person, they will always find something to be negative towards us. So this one film isn’t going to end the world, lol.
Just think about it, how many times have you been asked, do you really need to lift that much weight?

We need to start a movement like the fat people did so we are accepted, lol

Meet Ronnie Coleman years ago probably about 95 at a local show.

Guy was really nice and very friendly.

As far ruining your body for your sport I’m sure there are lots of former NFL players with Swiss cheese brains that would wholeheartedly disagree. Pushing beyond your natural limits is really what it requires in any sport if you want to be the best. What separates the greats from the also rans is their ability to stay focused and push on.

Just my 2 cents.

SO all the Pro bodybuilders in the video who were very successful and are condoning Ronnies approach you missed those interviews? They addressed both sides of the extreme. That's the fact and if anyone who watches the movie will not get an unbiased understanding.

He had genetics but if you looked at some of his weekly training schedules it was obvious that recovery would have to be enhanced hugely. He made it a trip, let’s hope he recovers enough to walk again.

just finished watching this! wow, he was a beast, awful to see how demobilized he now!

amazing what great spirits he is still in after all the pain and suffering he's been through.
