The King - Ronnie Coleman

I think I got about 20 mins into it before I had other stuff to do. That first bit seemed like mostly positive stuff i had seen before but the rough stuff seems to be ready to get started

Just finished watching this!!

It’s really sad to see how debilitating his injuries are. Both hips replaced, fused vertebrae, constant pain, mobility issues, on oxy but STILL training!!

It’s really well done. Cutler, Wheeler, Greene, Lavrone and others reflect in his 8 Mr O titles with really good old and new footage. Ronnie has a great sense of humour and amazing to see how much work and weight (800 pound squat) he lifted to go from 9th to 1st. Highly recommend it!

I would never discount the work and dedication he used to progress but frankly he really blew up when he discovered slin and GH. He has talked about a visit he had with Flex Wheeler where he was asking Flex for some tips and Flex introduced him to them. He was unstoppable after adding those to his regime. Man I wish I responded to "supplements" as well as some guys do.

I'm gonna watch the rest tonight if the doorbell stops ringing

Sad part is he likely has at least 20 more years if not longer to live in that broken down body which will only degrade. Makes you wonder if it was worth it

'Better to have lifted and lost than to never have lifted at all' - paraphrased from Alfred Lord Tennyson

I've heard the quote from him that was something like his only regret was that pre-contest 800lb squat for 2 reps he did 'could have got 4'

I wonder what he thinks real deep down inside though

I remember someone asked him in the hospital if he would have done anything different. He said he would of did one more rep on his 800 lb squat. True animal, his intensity was only matched by a few

No question the addition of GH and slin were instrumental in propelling him and others into or near the 300’s. It’s crazy to see and hear how he responded. Went from 215 lbs to 295 lbs over the course of his bodybuilding career.

Not a fan of his but was impressed with his physique after his second Oly victory.Despised his physique in later years.

Really sad how his injuries caught up with him. His attitude is inspirational though. A lot of people would spiral out having to live like him now.

I have 2 buddies that loved being the strongest in the gym, could bench over 500, shoulder press over 400 and for the last few years their shoulders have been a mess. Both needed surgery, one guy may need a replacement. Neither can really train now, at least not the same way.
I asked them if it was worth it and they said it was, they would do it again.
My one buddy is now doing more cardio, I told him he should just leaner, more agile and I bet he would look more muscular being leaner, also did he want to be a big corpse, and he told me yes, then chuckled, but he actually meant it.

So I guess if you have that mindset, well you have it.

I will have to watch it. Being partially bionic myself it should be interesting.

I hated this documentary, made the entire industry look bad, made us look like we are killing ourselves for the love of the sport, which just adds to the negative stereotype and media coverage.

I thought it was a good vid. They didn't mention drugs, like they usually do. They showed an athlete that was willing to go to the extreme to win. I bet in every rough sport pretty much this happens to the guys that are elite.
I do like the attitude Ronnie has though. At least his supplement company is doing good, so he doesn't have to rely on his body anymore.

I agree its good to see he has enough money to survive. If he never pushed his body to thoose limits he would have never won any mr olympias. He did what he had to do and has no regrets

You are kidding correct? Because there are multiple pro guys saying Ronnie pushed it way past the limit. Industry level was concise Ronnies was different. I also think the likes of Larry Wheels are what BBing needs, he in the same breath of Ronnie are guys pushing it and why not?

Are you an IfBB fighting stereotypes? Share your experiences as you said we are fighting this and that. You are aligning with whom>?

I watched it. Thought it was pretty boring.. it could have been a lot better. He's a nice guy and humorous but I don't think the documentary is particularly well made.
