Got into work this morning and one of the lease driver’s truck was in the shop along with someone’s pickup. A lease driver is an owner/operator. Contract driver, not an employee. There was two guys working on it changing a leaf spring on the front suspension. Now we are allowed to use the shop for minor repairs. We, employees. And as long as it’s done and out the shop before work. The lease drivers are allowed to use the wash bay and maybe fix a light or something.

The fucking owner of the truck wasn’t even there. He sent his dad and his uncle, gave them the code for the door and they let themselves in and just helped themselves to any shop tools they needed. Even went through my foreman’s toolbox and used his tools. They started at 8pm last night. I guess they thought it’d be an easy quick fix and they’d be gone before anyone noticed, but they didn’t leave until after 9am this morning, 2hrs after we started work. My foreman was fucking pissed.
 
I will refrain from making a comment......I have a pretty good idea of who you are talking about.
 
Yeah I always lock my toolbox because I know if someone ever went in there I would be very pissed off. It’s incredible the amount of money I have spent on quality tools over the years.

My uncle has a large shop for his excavating equipment. Seems like every guy in town who has heard of it shows up to use it like a community garage. Tools go missing, they leave big messes, just a bunch of leeching dickheads.

Oh, he also has a burn pile for burning certain types of wood and such. Fucking people come on the property in the middle of the night and throw their discarded couches and other garbage on it regularly. Too cheap to take their garbage to the dump, fucking idiots.

Always a couple douche bags who wreck it for everyone.

I worked at a shop on a military base when I was younger. The shop had everything for carpentry and mill wright. Anyways they had a rule that during break time and about an hour after work you could use everything in the shop for your personal stuff as long as you aren't profiting from it.

Of course one loser started making basic furniture and selling it.

Once the head of the shop found out, he shut it down for everyone.

Yep, as I always say. "People wreak everything". Doesn't mater what it is people will find a way to wreak it.
 
The contract driver’s rates have likely been depressed since late 2014.With a broken leaf spring it sounds like he may have been forced to run heavy.
