sleep apnea

Im actually surprised they did a diagnosis with only a ring...
Like you're talking a ring worn on your finger.
It took me six attempts to get enough data when I got tested.....that testing consisted of an oxygen sensor clipped to my index finger, nasal canula like how they administer oxygen and a freaken belt with a sensor around my chest. Like who the hell can sleep with all that crap on.....took me six tries, I kept rippin it off in my sleep and I would wake up with it on the floor.
As far as I knew that was the gold standard for testing, perhaps you can get retested with that contraption and get a worse result and maybe into moderate and get it covered.
mine was also a ring on my finger

Wow, I guess they can get the 02 and any movement.
That testing ai did was from the stone age and it was just in July when they finally got enough data and gave me a diagnosis.
I am a little perturbed now that I had to go through that other shit. I had that shit taped everywhere to try keep it on.

Sleep apnea is a slow killer. My undiagnosed condition had been going on for years, it just recently started causing me some very serious medical issues.

I couldn't tame my very high blood pressure with all kinds of medicine (even three at a time and increased dosages) but that's because it was severe obstructive sleep apnea causing it.
I had the same experience. I was prescribed 2 meds af max doses and still regularly at 150-160/70. With in weeks of CPAP treatment it came down to 120-130/60. Eventually allowing me to taper down the meds. I still use a low dose preventatively, but I’m pretty sure I could do with out it.

Ya it was just a ring, but truly it gave a lot of data.. heart rate, disturbances, O2 etc..

Can I ask what medical issues is causing you?

The one you suggested I own, but for some reason the inserts make my nose hurt. I bought it because I do find the one I use to be annoying sometimes with the shit that goes over your head.

Maybe I need to give it another go.

Btw @animal-inside if you get a machine, wait till you buy a bunch of masks, I’ll send you the ones I don’t use (after I sanitize them in quat sanitizer). Might as well save hundreds of dollars.

I have a full mask, the nose pillow mask combo, dream wisp nose mask. I think I might have something else. I kinda bought 1 of everything, lol.

Thank you brother, I will deffinitly try them. I'll pay shipping each way..

I'm ordering a machine and a mask tonight. Once it comes in, let me try the one mask I order.. If its not perfect, I'll pay to ship yours to me, give them a try and send the ones back that don't work

I hope others searching for more information on high blood pressure will also find out about the possibility that it could actually be sleep apnea will also find this information on here as it could save them the same trouble that we had.

Also people with sleep apnea may find out they may also have high blood pressure which is known as the "silent killer".

OD

A doctot also told me it could very likely be causing my blood sugar issues

pulled the trigger..

ResMed AirSense 10 Autoset APAP Machine with HumidAir Humidifier with Cellular Modem & Heated Tubing
ResMed AirFit F20 Full Face CPAP Mask - Large

I went with the full mask because even though when i finally started paying attention to my sleeping I always seem to fall assleep breathign through my nose and wake up breathign though my nose, wife says that's not always the case from what she says.

I found it very hard to pull the trigger on a 1000$ purchase just for me.. I hate spending money on stuff that's jsut for me if I can't fully justify it.. but now that I ordered it, I can not wait for it to get here and try it.

I also found it odd that I saw on the site "prescription required", but when I placed the order there was nothing about actually sending the prescription in.. But then I found it even more odd that these things require a prescription to begin with. It's not like using one can put you at harm.. and it's not like there is a shortage of cpap machines.. so why would you even need a prescription?!

I should add, to those reading who are in my situation.. The above order cost me 999$... Free shipping..

@Sorbate there was nothing on kijiji that was a low enough price to justify used.. The same machine I bought is on kijji used for 700-1300$.

Even 700$ isn't worth it used in my eyes.. I get some warranty and a new machine for an extra few hundred. Plus I do not have to drive 3-6 hours one way to get it or send cash hoping the seller will ship it.. and shipping is insane now.

The constant daily or nightly oxygen deprivation caused my optic nerves to swell up and be inflamed, this affected my vision seriously enough to scare the hell out of me. Since treatment has started the vision has improved a little but its definitely not to where it was, the Opthemologist said it might never get back to what it was because once the nerve is damaged it may not get better.
Edit: The sleep test showed my oxygen dipping down to 78. Moderate obstructive sleep apnea at 38 events per hour on my back. The events we less on my side or stomach but still evident.

I'm looking at this model right now, so many parts and peice I see on the screen.. What do I actually need to buy? Or can I buy the "complete system" for 1095$ at the bottom of the page?

Buy a complete unit with a humidifier and heated hose.
The mask will be seperate.
I have tried a lit of different masks, and my go to is a resmed F20 airfit full face mask. I find it very comfortable and quiet.
My resmed air sense 11 is 2 yrs old now and ive had no issues with it. My wife has the same machine for almost a year without issue.

i have the exact same machine and mask you bought. i threw the mask across the room every night for the first month in my l
sleep. it will take a few weeks for that to stop. don’t give up on it

Do you not have benefits through your job?
Yup, but as I mentioned I need to have a index of 15 or greater, which I am not. I talked to dr and the sleep clinic and they bascially said I'd be foolish to not get the cpap even though I'd have to pay 100% out of pocket for it.

I'm going to claim it on my income taxes though and see what happens. I have a script for the cpap machine, should be enough

There may be a loop hole there. Im not sure what Index means, when I was measured it was 'interruptions.' 15 would be insanely high.
However, benefits may cover it if you had Mild Sleep Apnea causing comorbidities. Thats how mine worked.
Anxiety, depression and blood pressure qualified as comorbidites. Id bet you could get your Dr to sign off one of those, especially anxiety where there is no hard criteria.
It worked for me

Shoot... you're probably right.. I could have done that, but I already paid out of pocket.

Next time I go see Doctor I'll ask about this.. I do have pre diabetes and when they measure my BP in office its high.. my BP is fine else where lol..

My boyfriend got a CPAP and that probably saved our couple lol. We couldn't even sleep in the same bed anymore cause his snoring got out of hand. I'd have to hit him mid sleep and I got scared I was going to be busted for domestic violence :ROFLMAO:

This is where I am at currently
me or gf has to leave the room cuz my snoring is so bad
