Had my consultation..
Told surgeon I lift really heavy weights and I'm very active with some heavy duty stuff like cutting 6-8 cords of wood a year etc..Told him I'm worried of it tearing again. He told me about 10-13% of henrnia surgieres fail, but if I want the best chance of it not retearing to take a full 6 weeks off of any lifting to allow the stomach wall to have its best chance to heal into the mesh.. Bascially your stomach wall is supopsed to heal over the mesh holding it in place.
Said 1-2 weeks off work and just sit on my ass.. Then I can go back to work as long as I can have other people do anything physcial that needs to be done..
As a bonus, I'm getting a vasectomy at the same time.. I need it done, but I know I would never do it under general ansthesia.. So since I'll be out, the same dr will snip me.
I got to roughly pick my srugery date which wss nice. First week of Dec.. I don't want to wreck my summer, I don't want to miss hunting season (sept- Dec 1st) and I'm starting a new positiion in my company in the fall so I need to get myself together with the before I feel comfortable taking 2 weeks off work
