Newbie needs advice

Heyo, new to the forum and I’m very overwhelmed by all the information, thus I could use some advice.

Some info about me:
Age: 33 Height: 6’2. Weight: 275 BF%: 22.5% (edited)
Been a gym rat for over 7 years and wanting to level up my lifting life.

I was hoping to try Science and Human or OnMen to try to get a script. Recently had my test checked by my GP and my test is 17.3 and 500 free. I don’t know if I’ll get a prescription but if I did would it even be worth it at my levels and stats?

I mostly just want a script for better gym performance and increase in muscle mass and an energy bump for now but I’d eventually like to try a cycle in the future.

Thanks in advance!

Hey man welcome

Generally a GP would not give you script at your levels. You should concentrate on getting your body fat down and make sure diet and training are optimized before you introduce hormones. They can do some funky stuff when your bf is too high.

Now a few questions…

Do have kids and if you do are you done having kids ?
Are you looking to compete either in strength or physic ?
Are you suffering from symptoms of low testosterone ?
Have you really researched what TRT means ? Like shooting test for the rest of your life potentially.

I’m sure I’ll think of a few more but start there.

Real, I had a feeling that would be starting advice.
  • No plan to have kids ever.
  • Debating competing in strength in the future, but not anytime soon.
  • Trying to figure that out tbh. Low energy and low mood the past few years but after having my numbers tested I'm thinking less so.
  • I have and am aware of that but also just reading around the forum to try to get a better sense of everything to make smart decisions before I start anything.

    Also thanks for the advice!

It will definitely be harder to get a script with those numbers, especially in Canada. It can be done but can take trying lots of places/Dr's.

What I have noticed in lots of the blood work I have seen from guys, and my own was it can be harder to get dialed the higher the BF% as it can lead to more aromitization.

I never felt great and was always chasing numbers and dosages until I got my BF down and it made life on trt way better and manageable.

Just my 2 cents but I would try getting that down before adding TRT and maybe see what your SHBG is as well

No doc I've been to for my TRT script would give you one for 17... Infact, majority of the dr's who have dealt with my script openly say that with my script they want me to have a test level of 15-20.. so 17 would be right in the middle of what they say is ideal..

Do you think any of your hormones are off? Do you have any symptoms?

If no, then you'd just be looking at doing a cycle basically.. If that's what you're looking for, then you won't get it from a doctor..

As mentioned above, unless your wanting to do a cycle, stick to lower BF, good diet, get your training/recovery on point etc..

Thanks for all the advice,
Y'all are probably right and I should be looking at doing a cycle. I'll head over to that side of the forum.

You may want to still get your body fat under 20% before a cycle. It will make is much easier to control your estrogen.

Plus you don't need gear to cut.

Also if your not covered which I wasn't it can be expensive. It was costing me around $1000 a year going through my doctor.

I hadn't checked my body fat % in years but I just did with an old caliper I forgot I had, looks like I'm 22.5%!
always overestimated since people usually under, but looks like I shouldn't have half as much to cut before a cycle haha.
