NAFLD

Morning,

For those who have read my posts, I had/have NAFLD caused by Mono that attacked my liver. It went from non existent, to 6-12 months late, mild, one year later, noted to be mild-medium. It is expected 30% or more of the population have this disease which can be benign to very serious with no treatment except a Mediterranean diet and exercise. I already exercise regularly, and have a good diet. @Funnyman helped tighten it up with some great suggestions and I do not overeat.
I eat above maintenance periodically, but my maintenance is around 2500-2700 cals which is considerably less that some of the members who weigh a lot less. @Oldguyjiujitsu - weighs less, has a lower BF, but eats more as maintenance (just an example as we have discussed this in the 'what did you eat today' thread.

I treated it myself with supplements to take as much stress of my liver as possible and the yearly ultrasounds indicated it was gone or was disappearing. The GP and gastroenterlogist both said it is getting better.
I recently had a full abdominal ultrasound that I paid for and it showed fatty deposits albeit mild, but they did not grade it. My liver enzymes are fine except my GGT is a mildly high periodically.
I have a requisition request sent to the radiology department to get my yearly ultrasound, but it can take 12-18 months if you are not noted as extremely urgent which I was not. They are going on 9 months now so I expect a call shortly.
One of the reasons I tried Retatrudide is because of the impact GLP-1 agonists are having on fatty liver. I recently read an article about people who handled the GLP-1 agonists well, but did not lose weight, but their fatty liver recovered significantly. It was on CBC as well, which doesn't mean accuracy but it was a doctor explaining they now have a bullet for their gun for this disease.

I hope to receive a call from the diagnostic imaging department with an appointment after being on Reta for a few months to see how it compared to the most recent one I dropped off at the hospital so they can add it my health file.
When I do, same as when I get my blood work back, I will post it. As a general rule, BPC157 drops my liver enzymes - all of them - significantly which could also play a part.
Just an experiment, and I have followed a diet (per funnyman), weighing portions and did lose weight, best money I ever spent for the time he put into helping.

Unfortunately, private ultrasounds have risen from $250 plus travel (don't have a private clinic in this Province) to $600-$700 plus travel which you may as well say is $1,000 if you want to eat, cost of gas, and so on.

For the guys/gals who hit the PED's hard, especially orals, a liver ultrasound is a good idea as you will not know you have an issue until your liver is approximately 75% damaged. I can't state you won't know this for certain, but that is what medical professionals say and I can confirm orals that felt absolutely great and I felt like a million bucks, sent my liver enzymes into the danger zone. Just food for thought.

Happy Father's Day to all the fathers out there.
