My reta experience

I have a question, I started Reta 3 weeks ago .5mg twice a week, towards the end of last week my sweets craving completely disappeared, the boys bring in camp cookies and before I would cave and have one but I'm noticing now I have zero interest in any sweets which is great.

This week I am noticing I am not thirsty and have to remind myself to drink my water, has anyone else noticed this.
The thirst thing happened to me as well. I still drank way too much coffee cause i am addicted but i would have to remind myself to drink anything else.
If i had a coke zero, i would hardly ever finish it

I deffinitly noticed less cravings.. I didn't understand how many cravings I had until reta took them away.. Since Reta isn't working for me as well as it was when I started, cravings came back.

I didn't feel the thirst thing..

Well, not sure why, but my readings are now 4.9- 5.2.. I moved from 1.5 to 2mg on Wednesday.. I'm not an expert at all and this is my first time using Reta, so I am wondering if it just takes a week or so for increasing doses to work on blood sugar levels?

As much as it seems like a crazy mess maybe it's not. Keep in mind that this is a reset of sorts, a retraining of the receptors involved in how to accept and then handle incoming stimulus in the way that we hope they will in a healthy person. I'm defining "unhealthy" as ur shit not working the way it "should" regardless of how a person got there.
Maybe we shouldn't expect results to be something you feel immediately like say from caffeine. Some for sure like nausea or headache but it doesn't seem to me to be subject to quick BS drops, It's not insulin and doesn't work in the same manner.
Most of the stuff I've read on it talks about or suggests looking at HbA1c after at least 24 or more weeks and daily levels 3-4 weeks after a dose adjustment, usually higher.
Also contrary to an earlier post I made here about frequency what I said there does not eliminate the eventual "stable" range from settling in which is certainly an important part of the equation. A half life of 6 days with shots frequency of dosing at 7 days means you'd get there in around 5 weeks.
Perhaps you are able/comfortable sticking it out with the new schedule for a month or so and seeing how you adapt?

Just thinking out loud again in hopes something helps, obviously this is about more than just Reta and I feel for you bro.

PS - it seems I see a lot of mention of clinicians upping the dose about every 4 weeks which fits what I suggested above and is what got me thinking about that to begin with

My blood sugar has been 5.1-5.3 all week when I check it upon waking and before meals.. So maybe it did take a week or two have my bump from 1mg to 2mg start working.

I am supposed to inject today, and to be honest I'm thinking about going to 2.5mg.

The scale shows 238-239 so it appears like my weight is moving again.

Coke Zero, damn I have to control myself, I can drink 4 or 5 of those in a row in like 45 minutes.

Update, I didn't end up taking my reta shot last wednesday as planned.. I am cutting right now and told myself to pay attention to my metabolism, recovery etc.. I was feeling like shit for a week or so, felt like shit in the gym, sleep was not good etc.. all signs that tell me to take a break.

So I didn't do my reta shot. I am taking a full week off of the gym as of last Friday.. And I added calories in the form of carbs to get to my maintence calories to help recover..

My blood sugar is back up to 5.8-6.2ish, but I've lost 1-2lbs since last wednesday.. I saw the scale hit 236 for the first time in 15 years.. Last time I was this light, I was literally starving due to moving across country, starting a new job and trying to eat on 100$ a month lol..

I'll restart on the weekend if I feel like I am recovered and my metabolism is a bit better.

I'm ok with taking a pause.. The goal was to hit 230 around mid June.. So I'm ahead of schedule..

It's fun to see your progress. I feel like I'm doing it with you because I also have struggled to get down the the weight I want. I have abs even at 245lbs but I am quite fat. I've been recomping because I can lose fat really well and get super small but I lose tons of muscle too I've noticed. So I will eat more carbs on training days and then off training days I'll eat less. I weigh my carbs now and even half a cup of blueberries can be an issue if I don't count it. I will do white fish half the week too, really like a nice red clam chowder and it's super low in carbs and fat. I'm 233 now but much leaner. I hold a lot of my fat on my lower body and love handles yet you can see veins in my chest lol.

I definitely recommend egg whites and white fish. I find mini potatoes easy to weigh and calculate plus they are quite satiating.
