my phone just crapped out I think.. need a new one

I have a iphone 11.. It updated itself the other day.. worked fine, but all of a sudden today the screen went grey and has vertical lines.. I can still make out enough on the screen to use it, but it seems to be getting worse.. then it gets better and then worse again..

I've tried all the restarting etc..

I think I just need to get another one.. I'm not spending 1000$ on a phone.. looking at buy refurbished from a reputable online... Anyone experience with these refurb phones?

I have one more thing I'm waiting to try on my current phone before giving up.. It's currently updating. Once its done I'll try resetting all factory settings.. apparently if that doesn't work, it needs to be taken apart.. from what I can find, its not worth taking it into apple to take a part at this point. closest iphone repair place is 5 hour round trip.

If the screen is the problem I'll get it replaced.. Shop in town isn't open until MOnday..

After reading, I think the ribbon cable conneting the screen to the phone is damaged or has come disconnected.. I would think the local place would be able to fix this...

I think I'm going to order a phone anyways... my son and daughter have no phone (which Im fine with), but we started leaving them home alone the last few months while we go run errands etc.. They have a tablet they can call us on, but not call 911, neighbors etc.. so might be time to get them a phone to have when we are gone... I thought about a land line, but they got pretty pricey

I feel you on this. Could always get a cheap Samsung to leave at home with the kids and repair yours... Or since yours is pretty old you could repair it for them and get a new one yourself.

I would stick with Apple if you're familiar and you can easily transfer everything between phones.
