I find that on both spectrums of the political system.they rarely have legitimate responses
It blows my mind that someone cannot get past their bias enough to actually look at things and work out what is actually happening.
As an example, liberals historically fund schools more, conservatives do not and expect that increases in performance should occur.
Well if we look at what happens historically (for the most part) after one party has blown all the money, someone needs to turn off the taps to stop the blooding and constant tax increases, which then leads to more money that needs to be funded. Now if people would wait long enough with the party that balances the books then extra funding can occur that will not cause increased taxes or borrowing of money.
It reminds me of when Klein first got into power. He cut things like crazy, then once the budget was balanced and the debt was being paid down, he increased spending in all areas. But at first he expected that the belt was tightened to reduce waste.
Chrétien did the same thing. So it’s has occurred on both sides of the political landscape (right now we have a moron running the governement). Difference was though, since specific people love their particular party so much, when their chosen party decides do tighten the belt, they are ok with it, it was the right thing to do, but if the other side does, he is evil and trying to destroy education.
Another example. Whynn promised billions before she left power. Obviously that was not sustainable and a grasp to stay in power. When she was ousted by Ford, he only gave the same funding as what was originally in the works and everyone screamed cuts. It wasn’t cuts, just not the fairy tail promises someone on their last leg was doling out.
ANd who did the most damage to healthcare, the Mcguinty/Whynn Ontario liberals, they underfunded for years, closed more hospitals than any other premiers in power. Then a couple years before the vote, dumped in a ton of money, and everyone confidently forgot what had happened before. Now I cannot remember the Conservative’s name before that, and they accused him of killing healthcare, but he streamlined it, built new hospitals, and closed smaller ones that were too expensive to operate thru numerous issues, like maintenance or overlapping staff.
But you can argue over this all day, the news says conservatives are bad, liberals good and lots of people do not look past that.
