So I have had lots of tendonitis in shoulders/elbows/wrists over the last 5 years. I assumed it was old age and over use.. My chiro and physio told me yes its due to old age and over use... I would do some reading about tendonitis and causes off and on thinking there must be something else to the equation causing it or possibly something I can do/take to help with frequent tendonitis..

Late last night I was again going down a rabbit hole and learned low copper can cause many issues including issues with your connective tissues.. tendons, artery walls etc...

Leading cause of low copper? Taking too much zinc... Zinc, from what I read, blocks copper absorption and somewhat flushes the body of copper.... Well, on doctors advice, I have been taking 50mg of zinc a day for a few years... Chatgpt says this can definitely cause a copper deficiency over time.. I believe 40mg zinc a day is the absolute highest dose you can go..

Who knows if I have a copper deficiency, but I'm stopping the zinc to see what happens.. I am also going to take 1mg of copper a day for a month (chatgpt's recommendations) to see if rebalancing will help the issues go away...

The doctor who recommended zinc to me was the private clinic I went through during the covid years... It was one of the recommended supplements by their hormone person..

Optizinc is a good way to get zinc and copper in the right ratio.

A bit off topic but we spoke about joint and tendon pain a few months back and I have found success using 200mg of hyaluronic acid everyday. I found it was joint dryness that was issue and this stuff seems to have solved that problem. It is comparable to how nandrolone makes my joints feel.

Any specific brand?

I doubt 50mg zinc did any harm. Any particular number is arbitrary to people’s size, absorption, and body’s usage. I won’t stop taking 50mg personally and have never seen anything to suggest any risk to 50mg daily.

I thought so as well, but Im going to stop taking it and see if things improve... I also ordered a copper/zinc combo.. Apparently the raiton in it ensures taking zinc does not deplete your copper at the same time.

this is chatgpt's opinion...

You should not take 50 mg of zinc every day unless a doctor specifically prescribes and monitors it, as it exceeds the safe long-term limit. [1, 2]

Key Limits and Recommendations
    • Recommended Daily Amount (RDA): Adults need about 8 mg (women) to 11 mg (men) of zinc per day. [1]
    • Tolerable Upper Intake Level (UL): According to the National Institutes of Health, the maximum safe daily limit from all food and supplements combined for adults is 40 mg per day. [1]
    • 50 mg Doses: Taking 50 mg or more daily on a long-term basis is considered too high. [1]

Risks of Taking Too Much Zinc
    • Copper Deficiency: High zinc levels block your body from absorbing copper. This can lead to anemia, lower HDL ("good") cholesterol, and nervous system problems like weakness or numbness in the arms and legs. [1, 2]
    • Digestive Issues: Doses of 50 mg or higher often trigger side effects such as nausea, stomach pain, vomiting, diarrhea, and headaches. [1]
    • Medication Interactions: Zinc can bind to and lower the effectiveness of certain medications, such as antibiotics and diuretics. [1, 2]
Note: A doctor may occasionally recommend a higher dose of zinc for a short time to treat a confirmed deficiency or specific medical condition, but they will typically run follow-up blood tests. [1]

Are you taking a 50 mg supplement to treat a specific symptom (like a cold or low zinc levels), or were you advised to take this dose by a healthcare provider?

I don't know if I have dryness in my joints to be honest..

Then it's definitely something to consider. For years I thought it was just me doing things wrong or needing some rehab or something. Time wasted for sure.

I did try very low dose deca for awhile.. I couldn't try it long enough to see any real benefits though because I was getting lots of blood work for TRT script.. my current srcipt is good for 6 months.. might be worth a try again? I also recall reading some long term concerns with it as well.

Low dose deca would be my last resort. Plus when I'm off cycle I want to be truly off any AAS.

There was a thread a few weeks back where a few of us were talking about deca and 50mg/ week seems to be what guys like. Personally I've never tried this.

I swear there was talk on here of an even lower dose, but still had benefits.. I think when I did it, it was lower then 50 a week

I asked but no one used less than 50mg per week. I did say if I hyaluronic acid didn't work I'd entertain experimenting with 25mg per week to see if it would work.
