Insurance. F ing insurance

Glad your alright though. We are in the process of finding a new insurance company the rates are fucking ridiculous.

My tractor caught on fire last night. I had a near death experience. Am lucky to survive.

Today called the broker for insurance company to find out it is not covered on my gigantic expensive policy

I am not happy

It's not the insurance companies fault
The broker dropped the ball

I had the EXACT same thing happen except it was my barn that burnt down..

When I first called the brooker (10 misn after the fire) she said "ok no problem I'll start the cliam".. 10 mins later she calls me back and says "turns out we didn't even know you had a barn, so its not covered"... I was shocked because I told her about the barn, told her we have chickens in the barn, we talked about what insurance we should have for it, sent her pictures of the chicken set up and sent her a few pictures of the outside of the barn as well.. I got really pissed at her, put her on spesker phone and said "I have a co worker sitting beside me and your on speaker phone.. say outloud one more time that you didn't know I had a barn because we both know you did and we both know I sent pictures of inside and outside of the barn"... She said "ummm I will csll you back"..

That agent was later fired.. she was 100% in the wrong..

I spoke with the owner of the brokerage and he admitted she sold us the wrong insurance.. bascially she sold us house insurance assuming the barn would be covered under my outbuildings, but since I had animals inside the barn it was not.. The owner settled for cash with me.. I got bascially exactly what I should have got money wise.. He told me his brokerage pays that money to me and then he puts an insurance claim in himself to get the cash back from the insurance company I Was with..

He apologized to me personally and I'm still with that brokerage.

At least you werent hurt too badly.
The tractor is replaceable, but not cheap.
Been looking for a new one or skid steer but holy fuck, the prices.
Might be better to fix yours.

finding someone to work on things is a challenge as well
from the looks of things up close its to far gone

Burns on my hands and on one arm
Could have been a lot worse
I got far enough away before it blew the tires
......Wow, ........ I wonder if you can sue them or the broker which was a rep for them, He represents(represented) them and is/was in a partnership...You paid the policy, under the impression you were covered, and if the broker said you did, but actually forgot...it is not
your problem, I would investigate that if I were you

You can sue anyone and all brokers have professional liability to cover off their errors. Every year brokers deal with these and rarely is anything paid unless the broker is honest sand admits they messed up which some do. The only way it will be covered by the insurer (not the broker's insurer for professional liability), is if there was an estoppel created. A person who represents the insurer (the broker or an independent adjuster) leads you to believe there is coverage when there isn't. I have seen this occur many times and multiple claims paid when there was no coverage on the item or the peril wasn't listed. One of the reasons phones are great but then follow everything with an e-mail or text to have it in writing.
