Insulin in BC

Just went to go grab some humalog as I want to start using it preworkout, before I get any heat from anyone on here. Yes I have done my research. Yes I have basic math skills, no I am not going to go hypo and die.

Anyways back to the point l, I know multiple people who buy both huma and lantus OTC in British Columbia without a prescription, I just tried 3 seperate pharmacies and they all denied me without a prescription, is there a way to act diabetic or should I just sit there and argue with the pharmacist? I don’t want to be a dick to them but at the same time I am certain you can pick up most forms of insulin without a prescription. Especially humalog. Maybe I wear a fat suit and walk in and they won’t question it.

You could try going to a pharmacy and asking if you could pick up some for an elderly family member who is traveling. Lantus might need a prescription but humalog or the generic admelog should be available OTC.

They ask for my family members name on file, tried it. Then I said they’re from Alberta, then they asked for ID for them so they could search them up.

Maybe I’ll just have to debate with them a bit, I just feel guilty arguing with a worker over insulin while there is elderly people who most likely actually need insulin standing in line waiting behind me.

About 20 years ago I had a pharmacy refuse to sell me syringes because she said she thought I was doing something bad with them, they're OTC but I guess they can refuse.

When I said traveling I was thinking my great aunt from North Dakota or something lost her vial. Diabetics will die if they don't get insulin so I don't know why they would refuse it.

Never had an issue. I just go up and buy it. They never question me. I live in BC. Sometimes maybe they don’t know you can buy it without a script but I’ve bought it many times without issues. Actually going to buy more today! Try telling them it’s legal to buy it. They don’t need your information as medical information is private. And you have the right to privacy.

I’m also very fortunate my main pharmacy never questions me and have always been very nice. Probably because they already know what I’m doing when looking at me I buy all my insulin and slin pins there. By the box of 100s. All my blood sugar monitor stuff like the lancets.

Yeah, the pharmacists I talked to were probably just newer, they definitely were new to Canada lol. I’ll try another pharmacy tomorrow.

I’ll just have google pulled up if they start demanding a prescription. Not sure what else i can do.

Went in there today with the government website pulled up stating u dont need a prescription and claimed I get it from there all the time, and they gave it to me no problem. I guess that’s just how I’ll have to do it.

It just is what it is.

Some places could care less. Some places have no clue. Some places want to save the world.

No sense arguing, places can decide if they want a sale or not. Not worth any aggravation.....when there's a problem, just move on to a place that wants the sale.

When i used insulin quite some timd ago now, I only had one place ever turn me down. Strangely enough, in a dodgy part of town where they ran a methedone clinic. Somehow procuring insulin without a script was terrible, but methadone was just fine. I understand the landscape differences....but there is still some degree of irony there somewhere.

I was pissed. The pharmacist was an absolute cunt and his smug little cunt face just tried everything he could to get me to lose my cool. He wasnt successful and I both won our little battle of wits and moved on to another store up the street. No issue procuring my means.

I got home and was so pissed I chose to vent my experience on the boards, in believe maybe canmass at the time?

I titled my thread "Dear Ahmed the fuckhead Pharmacist....." The guy's name was Ahmed - from his nametag. I thought it was a solid title that would create interest because of how obscure the title was.....

The thread started out well, with guys chiming in and engaging over the issue....

Then it happened....one guy got pissed at the title and labeled me a racist...and the thread turned into something it was never supposed to turn into.

I didnt fucking get it. If the guy's name was Dave, it would have read Dear Dave, the fuckbag pharmacist....

Now being a little older and being a little more open, I understand where the guy was coming from and why he thought the things he did...such a shit world sometimes...i just didnt have the lens on such at the time. I'd apologize to him now because I can better understand how he reached his conclusion.

However....I belive Ahmed is still a cunt and would feel the same if he was a Dave or Kathy or whatever that goddamn name tag said!

Regardless, the point to this ramble....I suppose, is this tgread made me think of that day.....and if youre getting dicked around for slin in a place, just move on and dont engage, youre not going to get through...people who escalate in such a situation won't listen, they just want to argue and win....i assume mostly because there aren't many wins in their lives. So just move on, it's legal to procure without a script and someone out there knows....or they just dont care. Either way...give those places your business. Not cuntfaces.
