How to: Will Power

This is what gives me iron will power. Don’t feel like training? This is what I envision. Don’t want to stick to a clean diet? Ya, this is the guy I see.

Or I just eat 2 butter tarts while standing, that also works.
@faller hahaha...that's how i feel right now

In all seriousness though I'm good at long term vision. If my goal to look good is this summer well I'm already too late, I should start training now with the goal being the summer a year from now.

My bench mark date is Oct. 6 my birthday. I started training for this coming Oct. last Oct. I set a goal of what I want to achieve at the end of that year and that's what I focus on. I guess that's what gives me the iron will.

And that pic of tubby doesn't hurt, I constantly see guys my age looking like that, I'd sooner shoot myself than go down that road.

@ClearWater perfect example was me this morning. I worked super late last night my alarm went off at 1:30am and right away my brain started making excuses why I didn’t have to go.

You’ll have days like that just tell that little voice in your head to shut the fuck up and get your ass moving. I dragged my ass to the gym when I picked up that first weight I was ready to go.

Don’t give in to that voice in your head saying “you’re too tired” “you’ve done well you deserve a break” “you can make up for it next time”

After developing habit, say meal plan for example, wait until you make a mistake say, a cheat meal when you weren’t supposed to. Without mistakes, you never learn and grow. Establish your triggers and what caused you to make that mistake, and eliminate triggers that drive temptation. For myself, it was smoking weed. Every time I smoked no matter how much preparation and self talk I gave myself I somehow found my self at one drive thru or another shortly after. After establishing my “trigger”, I quit smoking except when I actually want to have a cheat meal... then it’s balls to the wall for this guy.

For me it’s all about controlling my environment. I don’t keep junk in my house, therefore I don’t have to use will power at home to control my urges. I have my set meals made at home and I eat them.

If you control your environment and consistently reduce the amount of times you have to call upon your will power, you greatly increase your chances of controlling your urges the times that you have to call upon will power.

Hopefully that makes sense haha

After doing a ton of bodybuilding shows and depriving the fuck out of myself for years, I find it difficult to be "normal" and do shit I want to do now as opposed to doing shit that will somehow benefit me in some way. Especially with food. Ive recently done a lot of travelling south in the winter and I must say I regret not having done it earlier in life, what a way to treat yourself! If I could go back and talk to myself 20 years ago, I would say stop being so hard on yourself. I think people are born with the instinct to achieve, I dont think its something you can learn. I also think it may be genetic, my daughter has it, but her brother and sister (not mine by blood) do not, and they were all raised in the exact same way by the same two parents.
