How do you check your blood pressure?

absolutely. however, I'm well aware that its through the roof at those times (im working on ways to mitigate it), i don't need the stress of having those numbers right in front of me compounding and raising it even further.
True enough.

What I'm confused about though is resting bp is what has to be good, well if we don't rest all day which most people don't our blood pressure is usually only good while we sleep. Then we wake up have coffee and move around all day. So really it's 12 hours of good bp, and 12 hours of not so good
Your BP will naturally fluctuate throughout the day and that's totally normal. I agree with the guys saying upon waking. Don't even have to get out of bed if you have it near by.

Also as a heads up to everyone home grade BP units are notoriously inaccurate. I don't remember the exact % variation but professional automatic models can be anywhere up to 20% off. I would assume cheaper models = more variation. I would take multiple days worth of pressures and average them out for a more accurate picture of your normal.

Agreed. I've also heard that most of the time an in accurate reading will generally say it's higher then normal.

Sit in my chair with my shoes off and feet on the ground. I make sure I have been sitting for a few minutes. I am always drinking coffee when I take it so it is expected to be a little higher especially on the RHR. Take 3 measurements and average them.
I do it exactly as the nurse does at the docs. If you don't have the right cuff your numbers will not be accurate. They always leave and come back with a different cuff and I went into the medical store and got fitted for one. They need a special small one for me.
I use to check ED but now do it three times a week and track it.
One of the few measures of your overall health. If your not checking your BP multiple times a week, start. A good system can be purchased for 100-150 dollars.

This may be so. My doc only takes zoom check-ins unless it's an emergency. Rogue healthcare is all I have, unfortunately. I want to go on a rant about the state of our healthcare system in ON, but that's a whole other topic.

Healthcare in Ontario is complete shit. There is like 2 medi centers in my city of lets say 200,000 people. If you need stiches you have to go to the ER. What a stupid backwards system.

No doctor for over 6 years now. What am I paying taxes for if I am using online doctors.
You get better medical care in Cuba. Its sad

Another tip my Doc said is take it in the morning rather than at day/night. Peter Attia/Huberman recently spoke about the best way to measure it. I think its the old school way of doing it.
