Hernia Repair and Recovery

It will be tiny. My belly button looks like a pigs snout a bit, but they have gone thru there 3 times for surgery.

Hey I didn’t even think to mention what Gondar1 stated. Try to avoid pressure in your belly. See I had the first hernia for a month before repair and I had learned how to breath and relax while lifting, and that was part of my success at why I could go back to work so quickly. See my hernia would pop out, and I could push it back in, and if I created internal pressure pop it out again. I learned how to lift without doing that.

I rolled on my side to get up for the first couple days, so I sat on the couch, not a chair so I could do that.

Also you don’t want to bung up, so take Advil, not the t3’s or morphine or whatever they give you with opiates in it. You won’t need it, you’ll only be really sore the day of surgery and the next day. After that it will be no more annoying than muscle stiffness you get from training.

IMO advil will be great to bring down swelling in the area.

Honestly, don’t worry about the training. It’s a month, that’s nothing. Shit I haven’t been able to really train upper body for 10 months.
Just rehab, and 2 times a week, shoulder presses for a big 55 lbs (barbell), barbell curls for 55lb, and under hand rows for 65. Yep, nothing compared to before, but it is what it is, I want to heal.

Don’t go back to it quickly, I was mentioning my advice I gave to my wife and she reminded me of how fast I used to heal. So maybe my going back to work in a week is my advice most should not heed, lol.

Also don’t be scared of the surgery. It’s a joke. Routine, yeah they give you the list of shit that can go wrong, it won’t. I had it done twice, I wouldn’t hesitate to get it done again. It only hurts for 2 days.
Ugh, mine pops out too, and I can push it back in. In fact, it's a big part of why I want it repaired. I'm very aware of it and constantly pushing it back in.

I don't know if anyone watches "Foundation", but I feel like I'm walking around all day looking like Demerzel 😂

Yeah they'll have to do an incision across my belly button as well, can't do this one laparoscopic unfortunately. Did yours leave much of a scar? Maybe they can line it up with my abs so I look more cut lol. In any case, I plan to follow doctor's orders and not throw around sides of beef, you mad man. 😂

If I'm being very honest, I know my biggest struggle is going to be mental. I have a bad tendency to beat myself up if i miss a workout, despite having a perfectly legitimate reason. I'll be sitting there, after having my guts stuffed back into my abdomen, feeling like a lazy piece of shit. It's not rational, I know... it's something i really need to work on in the lead up to surgery.
Get a really good book. Exercise your brain while your resting.
