any headphone nerds here? looking closed back, wired, not needing amplification, over ear, under $250. i want to get something that will demonstrate what audiophiles seek in sound quality. im not concerned about build, looks or comfort. im looking too up my listening appreciation game.
currently using 1more triple driver buds. when i got them i realized i was vastly missing out before i got them and wondered what im missing out at still. i now listen to music at 1/3 the volume now because im getting so much more detail and dimension now and i can notice distortions now at loud volumes.

well ive had a lot of time to research and learned a lot about headphones and where to buy.
generally there are 2 types.
1. headphones for regular people that :
-outside noise and keep others from what you are listening to,
-they alter the sound to compensate for deficiencies in sound quality and to accentuate contemporary music trends(bass and vocals)
-can be powered sufficiently from consumer level electronics like cell phones and laptops.
-there are many good companies making great sounding products for this type. even some crap chinese brands.
-off the top of my head, the best brands for the money in this range are akg, koss, sony, audo-technica, samson, monoprice, sennheiser, phillips, sure, klipsh. usually trendy brands are over priced, not necessarily bad.
2.the other type are more expensive,
-are open backed so the sound leaks out to the environment too so the need a quiet listening space to be used.
-they are very dynamic so they need and additional amp to drive them properly.
- their sound is focused on realistic reproduction and resolution.
-cell phones and laptops also dont have good enough quality output for such headphones so you also need a dac
-sennheiser, sony and beyerdynamic are the brands that these type of headphones are compared too.

these are generalitys and there are headphones that overlap
the best wireless headphones right now are sony WH-1000XM3. seems to be a consensus.
beats are usually mocked in reviews
even with the best technology, wireless cant compare to wired for quality
monoprice make almost as good sounding headphones at all price points and product types for a fraction of the price with quality ranging from cheap to excellent. you have to do research.
the cool kids in the know buy from drop.com. they are a collective buying site. they sell the most coveted headphones and stereo equipment renamed at a fraction of the price.
amazon warehouse sell returns at an unbeatable discount.
kijiji. headphone nerds often spend more then they can afford or want to try new stuff. this is where lots of great equipment ends up.
