Got my blood work back

I think it was because I was abusing my body by eating shit and being fat for a couple years until the last couple months.

I bet with the few changes I am doing in 6 months when I do blood work again, things will be fixed up.

No coffee today and I have not gone hypo once, I checked my blood glucose 4 hours after eating lunch and it was 5.2. I still feel good, so I didn't eat. Dinner is in a hour anyways.

What I was doing was when I went hypo from the coffee from really low blood sugar, like 3.6/4.2 then I would drink a pop or eat candy to correct it, so it likely spiked way the other direction, like a 9 or whatever. Yeah not good doing that daily, sometimes twice a day, I know it was wrong but I loved coffee and didn't want to give it up. After seeing my A1C, I gave up coffee. I have to get my sugar intake down.

Curious why you think coffee made you go hypo? Are you not eating breakfast and just drinking coffee? Could it be something else causing hypo like keto, fasting, supplement etc?

I will keep checking my blood glucose daily to see what it does.

The TG/HDL ratio needs work also, can't remember what that was, but I highly doubt a 2, I think it was 3.2 or something like that. But like I said above, could be the repercussion of being a crap eater for like 5 years. I have a fast metabolism, so I can eat shit and stay lean. Time to get my act together.

I have already reduce my triglyceride levels from 3 years ago. It was 1.7.

@Huggybearz, I never thought of Reta, because I have no idea what it is. Like Ozempic?

Anyhow I can control myself, my wife froze up a bunch of cookies after I told her I am going to knuckle down on my sugars where I can.
I know sugar is in everything, but I can avoid it in simple places.

Well the short answer is that it’s an ELI LILLY trial 3rd phase drug set to be released next year but is gym bros have already gotten ahead of it.
It’s like ozempic, but with less crushing of the appetite and is 3 times stronger.

From chat GTP:

, an experimental "triple agonist" drug developed by Eli Lilly that simultaneously activates glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1), glucose-dependent insulinotropic polypeptide (GIP), and glucagon receptors.

How it works…….,
Triple activation:
Unlike many existing weight-loss drugs that target one or two receptors, retatrutide targets all three key hormones: GLP-1, GIP, and glucagon.
Metabolic effects:
By activating these receptors, retatrutide can:
Increase feelings of fullness and reduce appetite, leading to less food intake.
Improve how the body uses glucose, helping to control blood sugar levels.
Potentially increase energy expenditure and improve other metabolic markers like liver fat.

Anyways my wife is on 1 mg a week split .50 2 times a week and is dropping pretty quickly wiyh a high protein low carb diet and has no cravings at all. Doesn’t even feel hungry sometimes when it’s her next meal. ( 5 meals a day )

5.1 isn't BAD unless it's been rising over time and/or you have type 2 in your genetics.. just my opion though.. you're a lean guy though, so I would think your A1c would be lower?? Could be another reason to address it..

The gh is very likely a factor..

Make a few changes and ask to do A1c in 3 months maybe?

If your A1c has been rising or you got type 2 in your genetics like me--> stuff that's helped me with my A1c
-berberine 500mg 2x a day
-alphalipoic acid before bed

I'm not sure, but I also think the following have helped me too, but I have 0 proof.
-1/4 teaspoon cinamon a day.. it tastes great when mixed with vanilla shake
-selenium
-magnesium before bed.
Does the berberine have any side effects?and is it regular cinnamon or Ceylon cinnamon?

Only common side effect I’ve seen from berberine is potential digestive issues. That can come in the form of both constipation or diarrhea, depending on what it’s impacting negatively in that individual. Otherwise it seems to be very benign for the large majority.

If I drink coffee without a meal I go hypo. If I eat I am usually fine.

2 days no coffee and I have not had an issue. I am drinking tea in the morning instead.

I swapped out to tea years ago as well, but my coffee addiction is strong, lol.

As a note, my blood glucose was good yesterday, I tested multiple times.

Before dinner 5.1, 2 hours after dinner 6.1, 3 hours after dinner 5.2, first thing this morning 5.2

I believe the coffee and then my sugar eating after I go hypo plus my 2 am snacking is what got my A1C so high. I looked back to 4 years ago and it was 4.8, and this one was 5.8. I'll rechek in 4-6 months but I am sure that will be fixed

By the numbers you posted your mass ratio is 2.48 once converted to mg/dl.
So only moderately elevated risk,
About an RR of 1.5 in an otherwise healthy lean guy.
That's just marginally higher than the A1C would indicate.

Regardless, I've no doubt your plan will correct both within a few months.

Kudos on lowering your triglycerides that much! And while still mowing down a half dozen cookies every day?
I'm wondering just wtf you were eating before! 😂

similar to ozempic but not super similar
It’s a triple agonist activating the GLP 1, GIP and Glucagon receptors. It’s supposed to be good for reducing fatty liver and glucose as well as the weight loss stuff, I got my mom on it and she’s dropping weight like crazy and her glucose levels are better
Obviously you don’t need it for weight loss but it might be worth while to see how running like 1-2 mg a week affects your glucose levels, I know you can just not eat the junk so I don’t see it benefiting you in a diet sense but it might be worth while to look at for glucose levels

Those levels are good, specially for an old man who eats to many baked goods 😉

I don't get any digestive issues, but it turns my piss yellow and smelly .. especially morning piss

Coffee isn't the issue then.. it's probably the no breakfast. and then drinking the coffee gets your systems going harder and therefore you burn more energy.

Can gh not cause feelings of hypo as well?

Ya I am one of those people that can't sleep when I'm hungry... I have tried many times to cut off food 2 hours before bed.. but I end up laying in bed starving.. I do ok with a light snack about an hour before bed. I have to force myself to keep it light though.. Protien and a bit of fat is what I do. When I was having reg meal within an hour of bed, my fasting blood sugars would be higher and my cholesterol got worse because I would eat a lot of fat lol...

I used to take alpha lipoic acid 200 mg twice a day... once in the morning and once in the evening.. my A1c and fasting numbers went down when I switched to 500mg a couple hours before bed.

I’ve found 3 caps spread throughout 3 meals is the upper end of what I can tolerate before experiencing some pretty loose bowel movements. Some days 4 is fine, other days could give me issues. 5 a day and I can guarantee I’ll be on the toilet immediately after every meal lol.

gh doesn't make me hypo not at the doses I use.

I don't need to eat in the middle of the night, but if I woke up I would eat, but nothing good, like a can of pop, potato chips, ice cream bars. Trust me I know why my A1C was high, lol.

I am going back to my diet when my A1C was a 4.8. And the junk will be reduced to a min, I'll give myself one day a week.

Thats how I am. When I first wake up in the night or morning before I have my wits about me I get into the junk food. I realize I just cant have it in my house at all lol.

You know I was kinda ignoring how much sugar (like chocolate, cookies and potato chips) I was eating on a daily basis.
Honestly if I posted up what I was eating of this every day, none of you would be surprised at my A1C test.

This was a wake up for me. So now I will only allow myself to eat shit like that one day a week when we watch a movie on Saturday night.

Victory is stopping by my house on Sept 22 to remove 500ml of blood, so the hemocrit thing will be back to normal. ( thanks again for the info about them)

I would bet my ass that the triglyceride issue was from my crappy eating. On my previous test it was higher because I got supper hammered the night before my blood work, lol.

My previous test like 7 years ago, was when I was eating properly and around 9-10% bodyfat, and I was eating no crap at that time. My A1C was 4.8 then.

I have been testing my blood sugars all day today and even one hour after eating dinner (not a ton of carbs) I was already back down to 5.2.
Before dinner 4.8.
So just be careful how much crap you eat. And if you do, try to keep it to 1 or 2 days, not 7 days like I was.

Seriously, EVERY DAY over my normal meals
1/2 bag potato chips (min 1/2 bag)
About 7-8 Linder chocolate balls
6 cups coffee with sugar
6-10 cookies

Yeah wonder why it was high, lol.

I have smartened up and will get another set of blood work in 4 months and I bet it will be fine.

I know I should know better, but when you easily stay lean, you can eat shit and not gain too much weight.

Lucky bastard, if I look at a cookie I gain fat

When I was your age, I would eat non stop. Unless I massively overate I wouldn’t gain weight. It was tough to put on muscle when you have to over eat all the time. If I got lazy and didn’t over eat for a week, I’d lose weight.

Now I am more towards the middle. I can get fat, but I have to watch it. Ate really bad for like 2 years. So nows the time to get things under control before I get diabetes. And now you know how skinny people become diabetic, they can graze on sugar all day long and not get fat.

I was told your triglycerdies are a great way for you to know if your body is burning fat or storing fat.. under 1.0, your burning.. over 1.0 likely not burning.. Not sure how accurate that is, but for me it seems to be fairly accurate..

FYI...Your a fucker for being able to eat like shit and still be lean

That's interesting, it makes sense to me at a very basic level because when you are in a calorie or carb surplus it's harder to clear them from your blood, among all the process' we do know that at some point you liver can't keep up. If you are inactive levels should be even higher because your muscles wouldn't take much in either. I'm guessing that working every muscle head to toe as a bodybuilder and having bigger muscles would might theoretically be an effective tri burning strategy, ? IDK though maybe a lightly muscled ultra marathoner would get better results via workload volume. Fairly certain neither you nor eye are going to find out about the second strategy anytime soon though ;)
