Getting a fertility test

Anyone here ever get a fertility test done?

I know my FSH is bottomed out from blood work. But I want to know if my swimmers are 100% all on holiday or is there a few still hard at work?

Reason for finding this info out is to know if the lady needs to be on birth control or not... She really does not want to be on it if she can avoid it.

How do I go about getting one done? Is there private clinics? Or will my family doctor be able to requisition one for me?

Get her to come off birth control and if she gets knocked up then you are ok. Thank me later. No doctors requisition needed.

I did one I believe your dr needs to give you a requisition and you go to life labs and pound one out into a cup.

Just do some hcg, Clomid, and the boys should be fine.

No need to take off Work, and get blood work done.

I actually just did one. I asked my doc and he sent me. Shitty part is you are suppose to go 3 days or more without sex. I have to go back and try again, apparently my load was too small to get a decent test done.

I just got one done a few weeks ago. Its also important to make sure you get it from the “source” to the lab within an hour and keep it warm (body temperature) during transport or else it will negatively impact your results. I couldn’t bring myself to harvest my sample at the fertility clinic. Doing it at home was still awkward, but less so. Hope your results are better than mine was: literally zero sperm! However I’ve been on TRT for over 10 years.

Have you used HCG throughout that time?

Throughout the last 10+ years on TRT (prescribed)? No, there was never any reason to worry about recovery. Now that my wife and I are trying I’ve done a couple HCG/Clomid/Nolva cycles to try and kick start the boys, but so far no luck.

What dosages have you been using on the HCG front? Is your Dr helping you with this?

I know I watched a video where Dr.Serrano discusses the use of HCG whilst on TRT, trying to conceive. The dosages he suggests are pretty huge!

I'm going to give the definitive answer on this one:

If you DO NOT want a pregnancy, then use a second reliable method. Gonadal suppression from steroids isn't perfect, period. You do not need a semen analysis. Why? If it shows you have even a couple, then that's enough for a possible conception. If it says you don't AT THAT MINUTE of ejaculating, that doesn't mean you don't next week.

If your having trouble conceiving and want to talk about details of referral to a fertility clinic, that's a very different story and your welcome to PM me for details

Hope this helps

Thanks for the reply. I was hoping I could be reliably infertile.
But you make some good points. Was really hoping for her convenience we wouldn't need birth control.

I think each province is different but in my little province, doc ordered it and you pick up a bottle at the local lab at the hospital. You can go home, thump the monkey, and drop it off. Results are back in a few days.
That is to find out if you have good sperm and if they look right and have good motility.
If you have to go to a fertility clinic for men, they put you in a room with a 100 different kinds of porn, close the door nd say - you know what to do.
I did many times - no big deal. I’m a pro at it now.

momma says she can taste the sperm in a man's baby batter. she says its a unique taste. perhaps if your lady friend has a sensitive palate like momma she can to. However that might not be the best test for you to act on. but its fun getting tested :) momma tests me several times a week.

Hormonal IUD or copper IUD?

Hormonal.
Copper is rarely used anymore, mostly for emergency contraception. It makes you bleed more and isn't nearly as effective.
Mirena lasts at least 5 years, possibility up to 7 (studies still pending) and is as effective as getting tubes tied.

What about side effects? I'll do some more of my research myself as well.
My last GF, few years back now got one, and I found her sex drive plummeted once she got it installed. That's a natural concern of mine.

Is progestrone IUDs the only ones or are there other ones? If so in what situations would you consider one or the other?
Can the sides be the same as birth control sides?

Yes they are progestin releasing.
For side effects, apart from discomfort while inserting it, usually very well tolerated.

Decreased libido is rare. Well less than 5%.
The idea is that the hormone is released locally opposed to high doses of OCP. Hormone IUDs don't stop the body from ovulating, they change the mucous lining and prevent fertilization that way.

Do some reading. Highly recommend. Hassel free, no condoms, and simply take it out when you want kids...
