Finding a job

Big thanks to everyone contributing. I'm surprised with how well people received my request here despite being a complete stranger. I ended up with a country full of kind people. Really gives me hope for the future. Something I hardly ever experienced in my native country.

There isn't much hope for this country unfortunately

I'm civil engineer with 3+ years of experience.
Congratulations on your PR. This is a great country that pays off hard work, dedication and discipline. However, keep your expectations realistic, build your professional confidence again from the bottom of the ladder and you will exert your degree with fair to good remuneration one day.

@Sorbate said something very important, you need to make sure that you are prepared for great challenges and your language skills are very sharp and the only way to show this is to have experience and socialize with Canadians.

You won’t be in the 75%+ percentile of the mean salary for engineers any time soon and if you do either you are very skilled or very lucky.

And please embrace the Canadian Flag, no country has better trade off for professional people like this one 🇨🇦

Checking out different paths can open more doors than you’d think. I had good luck shifting into healthcare by looking at roles that hire fast, and the shortest path to becoming a sterile processing tech made it easier for me to get steady work while figuring out my longer-term plans. Calgary hospitals and clinics hire for those roles pretty often, so it can be a solid way to get your foot in the door.
