Hey everyone, not sure if this fits into this category as I’m not sure if finasteride is even an anabolic, but wife has always struggled with what to her is concerning hair loss, or not necessarily hair loss but just too much hair in the sink and or shower?🤷‍♂️

Wondering if finasteride would be a wise thing to experiment with and what if any potential sides would exist with this drug for women. Ultimately, I think she will probably want to try minoxidil one day but my understanding is that once you start it, you’re on it forever so probably don’t want to jump to that one. Also, was unable to find a profile for finasteride on the website, so if anyone can post the link to that it would be appreciated. Thanks in advance for any and all advice or tips for women’s hair health. Lol.

There are studies out there that list the loss of Libdo, dry skin and acne as some of the side effects and that it is not recommended but I have no personal experience, my wife has hair thinning issues and uses Biotin which she says helps but I'm the one unclogging the sink so I'm not so sure I agree.

There’s a product, I can’t remember the name of it, I got it off the shelf at the drugstore in the shampoo section, and it’s actually an oral supplement in a pink and white box, extremely positive reviews online and was about 50 bucks, my wife is notoriously bad for taking vitamins she doesn’t have The seven day vitamin Rolodex, which I use because of my supplement addiction,

Trans women take finasteride because it's an androgen blocker and prevents balding but they have male levels of testosterone and some of them don't get erections because of it. I would think unless she has testicles finasteride would kill her libido and dry her pussy up probably also cause other reproductive issues. Everyone sheds hair and if it's a real concern she should talk to her doctor.

Finasteride / dutasteride were not made for women and are not prescribed or used off label for women. You probably know this. RU5881 was made for prostate cancer - didn't work but made new hair grow. It didn't go to market because it was stopped when it didn't do anything for prostate cancer.
I have no idea if it is safe for women or where you would get the info but I wouldn't take either of the former if I was a woman - if there was any chance it might work or any evidence it did and was safe, it would be marketed and sold for this purpose because of the millions a pharmaceutical company could make. Maybe that's cynical but I suspect it is true.
The only product I know of used by women and some have success with is minoxidil.

Most woman hair loss, is from lack of iron.
Have her add iron tabs, to her diet and see if it helps.
This^

My wife’s issue isn’t lack of iron her issue is her body won’t absorb iron, she’s been like that since childhood, she took iron shots for years as a child.

Her hair was everywhere in the house it was a family joke when someone had a hair in a plate of food. The Odd part was that no matter how much hair fell out it never thinned. It’s like a hair fell out and another hair grew.

Now she’s in her 60’s and her hair has really thickened up. She no longer grows armpit hair or hair on her legs but now has a lush head of hair 🤷‍♂️

@Taureau Yes she still has pubic hair 🤣

Edit: personally any kind of drug use would be an absolute last resort. But that’s just me..

@faller this is my wife to the letter as well.
She’s a bit of a hypochondriac when it comes to hair and skin (makes for MANY ‘sky-is-falling’ incidents since she started experimenting w PEDs) so I think she’s probably got a similar trajectory ahead of her as your lady.
