Fall is here :(

Fall is just not my favorite time of year. When fall hits it means winter is soon upon us. I have a lot of work to do every fall to prepare for winter. This year I am buying chains for my tractor. Last few years when I get stuck I push myself back with the front end loader but am tired of that. I also have to prepare my bees for the winter. That is a few days work. My wood is all in but furnace needs a once over. I have a guy come in and check and check the chimney each fall because I respect wood heat and like to know its safe.
Those are just a few of the things I need to do.

What do you have to do to prepare for winter?
do you even like the fall? to me its just a rainy cold miserable time of year lol

I have a different outlook on fall now as compared to when I was falling. Back in the day I thought the same as you Bull, winter was just around the corner and I was going to be either buried to the arm pit's in snow or drenched from constant rain all day long. No matter what I was going be cold and wet for months on end.

Now, I love the fall colors, the comfortable temperatures and with winter just around the corner my work season is done and I get to kick back, look outside from the comfort of my recliner in a warm and cozy home and just train and eat and take some time to spend with my Grandkids. I love fall!! Lol.

Alberta does not get Fall or Spring...We go straight from Summer to Winter. Back in the Maritimes l loved Fall, 3 months of beautiful colours and it gentle eased you into Winter. There was a quote on This Hour Has 22 minutes "we have to shovel the snow to rake the leaves."

Everything is ready for winter here and it's now time to enjoy fall at the best i can.

Tomorow is the begining of my hunting season, time to go hide myself in the wood and enjoy all the great moment that come with it.

Can't say I envy my East Coast brothers come fall (cold ass weather). Personally I have to keep on top of my mood swing in the fall/winter. That transition can really f*uck with my head. Thus effecting my daily routine, a real mofo! I just try and keep that positive mindset and not let the shift in weather effect my life.

I just cleaned my gutters twice, cleaned our furnace, prepped rat traps, checked and plugged any holes for rodent entry (yet they still get in), and got my wetsuit out of storage for all the rain we are about to get.

I hate fall, but there is 1 good thing about it. Rain means nobody is out on the local trails, local as in 10 min from my place on trails where you are not allowed motorized vehicles, and dirtbikes in the mud is soooo much fun. No cops either, and you can just roll in neutral back home! The cleanup after is aweful, but you just have to remember that's future Homer's problem.

Meh, had to close down the pool, clean out the eavetroughs get the Christmas lights out and untangled, winterize the trailer, winterize the mowers, ride on and push and weed eater, prep the snow blower, put away the boat....get the furnace checked. Two bright spots were when the NCC property manager told me two weeks ago they were repairing my steps( 2 years coming) this week it ended up they were tearing out my whole concert slab for my porch and the steps so I will have a whole new deck in front by next weekend and new interlock walkway!
As well because my house was broken into 2 weeks ago and we tried to get new tenants insurance and could not cause of oil furnace, he said they will convert it to propane in next 6 weeks, again bonus!!
So it's been a little good with all the usual fall shutdown and winter prep.

It’s all the same to me. I still need to close the pool, night swim in it one more time next weekend. Fire up the heater and make it 90 degrees.
Been in the hot tub almost every day.
Work will change now, slower counter but more hunting season so we will be busy even though the counters will be slow. Thank god we are still busy enough that everything sells so no losses. Already all the Kill plants I process fir are getting in more pigs, so my amount I’m smoking of hams and bacon has increased a lot, like almost 2000 lbs a week more. Easy work and good money.
The house and the rest I just fake, the furnace turned on already once so it’s fine, lol. Likely like every year, the flame proofer will need to be sanded at 3 am one cold night because the furnace will think it doesnt have flame and turn off, lol. Always when I wake at 3 am to pee and it’s 15 degrees in the house and I’m crawling they the crawl space past the cobwebs to fix it, lol.
Besides that I could care less. I love falling asleep over the heater vent.

I know a lot of people talk about it, but I don’t get it...I think I’ve gotten up a half dozen times in my lifetime to pee at night. When I go to bed I’m out cold for 7-8 hours

I train just before I go to bed, so I usually drink 40 oz of water when I train and eat my last meal right before bed. I mean I eat then crawl into bed at 11:20 pm. So I start drinking that 40 oz at 9:30.

Anyhow I’m so insane about keeping hydrated that when I wake to pee, I drink what I figure I pee’d out, lol.

So normally I pee once around 1:30 then again around 6. And it’s not, my prostate is fucked, type of peeing, I mean high flow lots of volume peeing, lol.

So if you want to disturb your sleep, down 2 bottles of water right before you go to sleep. I guarantee you will be able to experience what it is like to pee in the middle of the night, especially when you start dreaming about looking fir a bathroom, but can’t find one anywhere but need to drain the lizard 😅

I do the exact same thing with water at night. However I can't eat right before sleep because I get brutal GERD. I watch a bit of TV and then get out of bed to read or Netflix for an hour or so. In that time period I am drinking a litre and a half of water.

Gonna have to side with hulk but not for same reasons. Allergies are in control! Less bugs and I love the feeling outside when air is a bit crisp but the sun beating down on you still has heat.

I like the fall. I find the heat in summer brutal now so working outside can be a bit much sometimes. This summer I had 2 air conditioners running constantly, sometimes 3. In the fall I can get out and do things without worrying about dehydration and sunburn. I have a lot more energy in moderate temperatures as well. I don't have much prep to do for winter, just rustproof the cars, winterize the mower and get the snowblower ready.
