Ever notice how the 75 year old farmer (men or women) who work in the barn, cut wood by hand, walk miles every day filling water pales for their animals, etc. seem to look younger, sleep better, eat more, and tend to be leaner.
New article about what I think we already new - activity/exercise is great for healthy aging:
www.medicalnewstoday.com
It mentions HIIT as being the best, but I am sure there are other articles that disagree. I am not a fan of short breaks before I start another exercise. If I am lifting heavy or doing the compound/mass exercises, I need more time off between sets. I have tried 1 minute breaks, lifting less weight, and like all systems your body adapts but it can be humbling if you are a 3 minutes rest, exercise, 3 minutes, exercise....
Worth a read. Take note of the fruit fly and house model regarding activating genes to help heal - not sure how they do that, but so be it.
I take every article / study with a grain of salt because in a decade we may be told the exact opposite. The take away from this, for the older members - staying active and wearing out and not rusting out is important.

How exercise aids healthy aging: Evidence from 3 recent studies
The latest research suggests that exercise can help maintain muscle health as we age, and boost longevity. Here is the evidence.
