Does Pineapple Change the Taste of Your Semen?
If you’re a guy and reading this (hint: you probably are) then this is either something that you’ve heard of before and might not even be the first time Googling it. We’ve all heard that pineapple can change and improve the taste of your semen, making special bedroom activities a little more… tropical?
But does pineapple actually have any of the associated benefits or is this just another taboo sex legend to boost pina colada sales? Well, as we’ve found out - it’s a bit of both.
Does pineapple improve the taste?
Your diet, and whatever you ingest, has the power to affect the taste and smell of all bodily fluids that we may secrete. That includes sweat, saliva and the golden boy: semen. Sperm is alkaline in nature and this makes it naturally bitter-tasting, so making this less alkaline is a sure fire way to improve the taste, right?
Well, pineapple is acidic, the opposite of alkaline - so any sugary liquid or food may skew the glucose structure and pH balance that the semen usually has. Small changes in this from eating and drinking a lot of pineapple and pineapple juice may mean that there is actually truth behind the rumour.
A higher fluid intake also increase the amount of seminal fluid a man produces, meaning that more water you drink and thus the more hydrated that you are - the more volume of the spunky stuff you can expect. This higher hydrated state also leads to an improved taste, so it’s pineapple juice all round!
What else can I eat?
Not a huge pineapple fan or just sick of it in general? Not a problem - you can easily substitute most other fruits to enhance the glucose and fructose already present in semen. So if you’re more of a kiwi guy - you’re in luck. Most naturally sugary fruits have the power to improve the taste too, that’s kiwi, blueberry and stone fruits to name a couple - great news for fruit eaters!
What should I avoid?
There’s a good list of things to avoid too, including coffee, alcohol, marijuana and tobacco meaning everything fun is out the window as this makes semen bitter. Red meat, dairy, chocolate and asparagus are also on the hit list just to suck out the rest of the joy from your life on your journey to better semen - it’s starting to seem less and less worth it as we go on, isn’t it.
Long story short, if you’re super clean and your diet consists of white meat, fruit and veg (bar asparagus) with no smoking or drinking - the chances are that you’re already onto a winner. For many of us, increasing hydration levels may also be another great way to improve not only taste, but volume too!
