Cpap machine

Monday night was the first night in over 2 years that I did not sleep with my Cpap because we had a power outage due tona windstorm and I had a horrible night, up every hour, hard to fall asleep, snorted myself awake a couple times, and I was a zombie all day. Last night we had had power back and I used my Cpap and slept well.

Looks like Cpap machines are addictive, which makes sense as my body is now so used to the extra airflow and ease of breathing that on my own I'm probably worse now than before I started using it.

I need to look into a battery pack that can last me the night incase we lose power like that again, and now I'm thinking about how I'd use it camping.

Does anyone here know of some sort of stand alone power supply that would work for a whole night or two for a Cpap?

has blackfriday sales on right now, I have the AC180 to run stuff while camping, itll handle the camp fridge and GF's hairdryer for 3-4 days no problem so i cant see it not handling a CPAP for a couple nights

Exactly what I'm looking for, thank you!

Edit to add:
Doing the math their base model AC180 should run a Resmed 11 for somewhere between 15 to 30 hours depending on the humidifier and hose temp settings, and it should run an AirMini for waaaay longer as it does not have those two features👍

What is the power draw on your machine? It should say the watts on a sticker. Then work out how many hours and you will know what you need, then add on 25% to be sure.

Lots of cheap battery back up boxes, or you can do lithium to be more portable.

Thanks for sharing this. I’ll be looking to buy one as well.

I recently had a sleep study done after my GF complained about my snoring, went through the study and the Sleep doc said i was JUST over the mild limit to qualify for therapy, they sent the req off to my family doc who then also reviewed the study with me and suggested I try some other "cheaper" therapies before paying the 3+K for an oral device for snoring, I tried 2 different mouth guards which did not work 50-60 cad each until i got one called an "Airwaav recovery" which according the my snoring app has improved my incidents of snoring at night. (i would also say waking up now is easier and i genuinly feel more rested) Fam doc also said the study is good for 5 years or unless I gain significant weight.

so anyway, there are options! i wanted to try something other than cpap as i backcountry camp, etc
Dude, thank you for mention the Airwavv Recovery, got mine yesterday and wore it last night.

I woke this morning and my wife said, "Great, now how am I supposed to sleep because you were too quiet, no machine making noise, no snoring, I had to check you to see if you were alive, lol"

Now I will check it with a snoring app to be sure, but I know my sleep apnea was pretty mild, I just snored, but snored at a stead pace, no choking or times where I stopped breathing.

Man it was so much better than wearing that crappy sleep apnea headgear.

I tried to spit it out once and woke up and bit down to put it back on. Wasn't that uncomfortable, I'll be used to it in a couple days.

i have severe severe sleep apnea (only breathe 40 seconds out of every minute) and the cpap changed my life. i have a resmed airsense 10 which isn’t as intuitive as i’d like, need to call my clinic to get anything changed remotely. there was no way i was waiting for a sleep study through the hospital, so i went private with my insurance. all in all i paid $500 for the machine after insurance and picked a mask i liked etc etc. highly recommend getting one.

Yeah not much to adjust on the resmed 10. Made it easy for me to set it up myself though.

Ok I did good with the mouth guard the first couple days, then took 10 mg of cialis and that night I snored like a bastard with the mouth guard. Thinking since cialis stuffs me up, it closes my airway and I’ll have to use a cpap mask during that time.

I also really need to stop vaping completely to get rid of any inflimation in my throat.

My wife said I kept her up all night, lol. I did record it as well, and damn it was bad, even made choking sounds a few times. Stupid cialis.

Does the Airwavv mouth guard help if you breathe through your nose at night?

I bought my resmed 10 off marketplace. Did my research and made sure to get the autoset. Watched a few YouTube videos online on how to adjust the settings to find what works best and haven’t looked back. Found a good range for pressure. Very happy with it.

Only complaint is since I’m using the nasal mask. I do need to make sure my nose is clear. If I have a cold or my nose is stuffed up I imagine I’m screwed.

When traveling i imagine you bring the whole setup with you?

Depends, if your nose is stuffed you can open your mouth and breathe thru it. Its only a lower piece. What it does is hold your tongue forward so it doesn't block your throat. Which is usually my issue for snoring. It fairly comfortable as well after a couple of days usage. Much better than a cpap mask

Buy one of the vics nose sniffers (you know the lip gloss tube like thing with vics in it you can breathe up your nose) Sniff up a couple times with that before you put the mask on.

The pressure of the mask seems to clear my nose if I have a cold, haven't had an issue with that yet. I only use a nasal pillow type.

Yep, I pack it in my luggage and bring it with me. My wife and grandson thank me for it so I don't keep them awake all night snoring. I have a case for it, but I just take it apart into the two pieces and wrap it up in my clothes to protect it. I break it into the two pieces so it doesn't get jarred and brake along there. Just to be safe. The resmed 10 is pretty sturdy, could likely pack it whole, but why take the chance.
