Nursing a bit of a hang over this morning, needed something good because I am parging today after I put the second coat of mud on the wall in Lauries workout room. Fixed the leak in the concrete wall already, so no more water penetration. Wasn’t hard to do, will cost about $500 in total once done. Got 10,000 off on the sale when it was noticed, so it was a win.
Anyhow here is breakfast (got the day off today, the butcher wanted Sunday off so he swapped me days, but I have another guy who cuts as well, so I’ll only have to work about 2-3 hours tommorow) so another win for me.

Man I love the gas stove, thing is so consistant.
Here is the view when I was eating breakfast

This is the enclosed patio, I look at both the back yard and pool and this room when in the eating area off the kitchen. The cats use that room more than I do, lol. The cats really love the new house, they don’t even bother trying to get out of the house anymore. The older female would go out multiple times a day, now she doesn’t even ask to go out. Just paws at the patio door to go out into the patio.

When I first moved to this house, I actually kinda hated it. I figured for the money I paid, you think the place would be perfect. But no one had done any maintenance in the last 16 years since it was built. Kinda why I got it for less than what it was likely worth, a few people looked at it when it was for sale, but no one likely wasnted to take on the work. Thankfully for my wife, I’m a bit stupid and don’t mind taking on projects.
I have been working non stop on this place for the last month since we moved in. Tightening taps and towel bars, lol. Drain O down drains so they flow like new. Had to lubricate every hinge on every door, and fix rubbing doors. The doors squealed really bad (the inside door are solid wood doors, just like an outside door is like. I took the door off the laundry room so we could get the new washer and dryer in easier (bought the monster sized ones) and the 29” by 8’ high door weighed 68 lbs (weighed it on my bathroom scale. Needless to say, it was a bitch to get back on to the 4 hinges, but I used shims to help, then I remembered that I needed to plane the bottom because it was rubbing on the floor, so I’ll need to take it off again. Damn it.
Spent 2 day cleaning the concrete around the pool. Got a guy to drill more water drain holes in the little wall around the pool deck, and had him cut me out 3 spots so I could have a place to leaf blow the leaves and such off the deck. Spent 4 hours grinding the concrete down flush after he cut them out, could only get so far down with his saw.
I am thinking of staining the inner concrete perimeter right around the pool in a bit darker grey/black color (transparent stain) then using a satin wet look concrete sealer on all the rest, just to give it some pop. There is also a pipe by the stairs, that runs off the pump, so I am going to build a water feature with large lime stones rocks and build and a bit a rock diving board.
Also going to put up a privacy fence on the top of the concrete perimeter so the neighbours don’t stare at me.

I figure I have about 3 years of work.
My shoulders are still pretty rough, but honestly I cannot remember a time since I was 20 where they didn’t ache. But I am trying a different type of rehab and it seems to be slowly working. I was able to toss the 65 lb ribeye boxes on the shelf above my head. And when I say toss, I mean toss them up two handed like when you toss a basket ball. The top shelf is 5’ high and I can toss 4 boxes high, so about 9’ but I can’t get higher because I am too short and can’t get the right angle so they don’t hit the roof first and come flying back down. Told the butcher I feel like a pussy and he looked at me and said, “I can’t toss them up like that and I’m young not old like you, lol”. I told him I feel like the rock guy in the movie, Never Ending Story, when he looked at his hands and says, “my hands are big and strong, so big and strong, but I couldn’t save them, they were not strong enough”. That is how I feel about my shoulders, they are bigger than the average guy, but ache so much they make me feel weak. I have to modify how I lift things or reach above my head when I am doing projects around the house and at work. It is frustrating.
I am not looking forward to getting older, my dad says it gets worse. It pissed him off to not be able to do some of the things he did by himself when he was younger. We are similar and both like projects.
Anyhow, I’ll post up more pics of the house in the future as I get things fixed up.
