Just wondering if there’s any way to rest for free testosterone from bloodwork?
The ND I saw previously got mine from either a piss test or a saliva test, can’t remember which. And I had to take samples multiples times throughout the day.

You can manipulate your total and free test based on the compounds you are taking and amounts you are taking.

What is the goal or reason for the question? just trying to understand why you are asking - are you trying to get lower free test?

Yes, I meant free test.
I was told by a ND I used to see that you need a different test than just bloodwork to see it. This was echoed by a telehealth provider that only gave me total T from a blood test alone.
Asking because I was told that I have extremely low ‘free’ test, and wondering if, as you’ve said, there’s any truth in what I’ve heard re: needing to do piss/saliva at multiple times during the day or whatever to determine free test.

This just sounds like all the hoops a gp or endo would put you through, also over a 6 month period and only to end up giving you 85mg every 2 weeks amd you have to go in for injections lol. That's a joke but everyone of those points I've heard someone actually went through. Could be all of them too, I forget your earlier posts but if you just want trt or higher testosterone go to a trt clinic but if your curious as to why you are low and wanna play constant catch up go through your family doctor.

In Alberta total test is one of the check boxes for the standard tests. Free test, Doctor has to add in the “other box”and yes its a separate blood test.

you want to know your total test and your free test because it’s a good indicator of how much you aromatize and how high your SHGB is (if your doctor did not test for that)

Personal example. Many times my total test has been in the middle of the range yet because I was taking other things that lower SHGB I was way over range for free test.

You don't have to do a bunch of tests during the day. When you get your hormone blood tests, you can order or the doc can order total test, free test, SHBG, LH, estrogen and prolactin. There are others but those are the ones I check frequently.

Pay for a few tests and you will start to notice trends with certain hormones being down and free test being up or vice versa. Also keep a log of what you are taking. DHT drugs like Primo - a low dose of 100-150 mg per week with TRT will send my free test 3-4 times the top of the norm but my total test is in the normal range.
I took some of my own cash and paid for my own testing and wanted to determine how quickly my body metabolized different hormones and what specific compounds did to my hormones as well as other blood markers like a CBC, etc.

It depends…(this is not binary answer stuff…meaning this or that)

You need to know what both free and total test to draw conclusions

For example, Are both “in the basement”? Then you are low T. There are many reasons you might be low t. Is total in range and free low. This could mean several things. SHGB or E2 are high. Are you fat? stressed?
