Heads up there is a possible Canada post Strike on the horizon

While postal workers waited Monday to find out whether they'll be on picket lines later this month, some of Canada Post's clients weren't taking chances on whether there would be a strike or lockout at the Crown agency.

Members of the Canadian Union of Postal Workers, CUPW, wrapped up voting Sunday on a call by the union for a strike mandate after months of contract talks failed to produce a collective agreement. Results of two separate votes are expected to be released Tuesday.

But even before the final votes were cast, companies like Enbridge Gas Distribution Inc. were encouraging customers to register for online billing, noting that bills must still be paid, regardless of whether paper copies could be delivered to households.

If CUPW members voted in favour of job action, they could legally strike by Sept. 26 after a "cooling off" period, but Canada Post would also be legally able to lock them out on the same date.

Jesus that would suck!
But I’m fairly well stocked so I should be good for awhile yet 😉

Seems like we hear this ever couple of years. CP union should realize without Amazon at this point they would be out of work. A strike would force Amazon to find a new way to ship and they may just decide this new means is better and easier.

this is very true. Imagine if they started their own shipping company

I remember when brewers distributing went on strike in Edmonton. They delivered beer to the liquer stores. Made damn good money, like 3-4 times what a normal in town driver would make. Well the union convinced them they could get more, they striked. Anyhow they were replaced with another company that paid their workers a lot less. I emember one guy who was a friend of my dads saying maybe they should have just taken the deal because he didn't realize what the real world was like.

Just like these CP guys, they don't realize they have a really good paying job with great benefits and a great pension, which is a rare find. If something happens and they stat getting laid opff they are going to learn the hard way what the real world is like.

Not sure where you guys order from. Thats 2 weeks away i normally have my orders in a few days
