UFC 229

Always a chance! I mean you and I both have a chance even right? It's a fight.

I find this one super interesting for sure though, standup is one thing but if they end up on the ground.....

I'm sure Mac is aware of the mauling scenarios that are possible and hasn't just been playing touch-butt in the park with his yogi for the last 6 months.

It may be interesting to see what kind of chin Khabib has too

So Khabib’s coach is taking slack for saying They are not spending much time working on striking as it would be foolish to stand with Connor.

I completely agree with the sentiment. Nothing drives me more crazy than a guy who is been grappling 15 yrs, does 2 Years boxing, gets excited that he’s learned a new skill, and goes out in the fight and tries to be a striker.

Ya fighters forget to stick to their strengths sometimes and want to show ppl they can beat whoever at their own game. More often than not this is the wrong decision.
Conor has shown no ground game and that will be his down fall if he isn't fast enough.
I think he needs a good ass whooping to get him focused again.

And then they wonder why they lose. they get over confident in there new skill...but really they are just an amateur trying to fight a pro at their game.
If khabib truely has the mentality that he is taking it this to the ground I dont see him losing, he may get clipped on the way down but It wont be a show stopper IMO. Im glad to hear this and I will start to watch the odds. @Oldguyjiujitsu do you think khabib can finish him in 5 rounds? Alot of the last fights were decisions

I honestly don’t think this flight will go to decision. (Whoever wins). Both fade a little in the later rounds so that will make one of them susceptible to making a critical mistake. IMO

I think Conor's best chance is catching Khabib coming in. Traditionally, Khabib can sometimes come in fast and aggressive - and he is often slipping in the defensive area when he does this. I've seen him get tagged before when coming in for a shot.

Now, if Conor catches Khabib with a flush left hand when Khabib comes storming in, will Khabib's chin hold up? That's the question. Its hard to say. Conor's left hand has broken some people down before, but Diaz ate them over and over again and kept on trucking.

Add to that, when Khabib's chin was tested when Michael Johnson caught him clean, yes Khabib did wobble for about 2-3 seconds but then he recovered quickly and kept coming forward. Now keep in mind, thats the same Michael Johnson who put Dustin Poirier out with one shot - so Khabib's chin does seem to be solid.

Now if Khabib can get the fight to the ground (and keep it there) for 2 rounds in a row, there's a good chance that Conor's gas tank will empty out. Plus, if Conor hasn't made any improvements on his ground game since he fought Chad Mendes, then he'll def be getting eaten up while he's down there.

I'd probably go with Khabib on this fight, but Conor's left hand can always be a game changer.

Yup. I was figuring that a large part of his long layoff has probably been dedicated to working on his ground game. As good as his stand-up is, he knows that there will be times when the fight makes it to the ground, and the Mendes fight showed everyone that there were large holes in that part of his game. Also, Diaz subbed him within about 10 seconds of the fight hitting the ground in their first fight.

I know he's been working on his BJJ with Dillon Danis. I guess we'll see how much he's progressed if the fight makes it to the ground - which it most likely will

At least there is a fight with a little intrigue to finally get excited about.

Well fuck it. I think im gonna put 100 on kahaib to win by decision. He hasnt finished many guys except in his early fights and connor is no slouch. 100 pays out 450

I have a hard time getting excited for a Woodley fight and there is always the risk Till won't make weight.
Yes, there is the chance that Till wont make weight, but Woodley says he'll fight him either way (even of it ends up not being a title bout).

Yes, Woodley has had some snoozers lately, but I feel like Till wont let this happen for this fight. I'm hoping Till will push the action and take it to Woodley if Woodley chooses to hang out with his back on the cage (as has become his M.O.) Till seems to have a little more balls than some of Woodley's more recent opponents - plus Till is going into this fight with a whole lot of confidence. I just hope he doesn't get too cocky ;)
