Blood clots? How to identify them?

I’ve been taking Raloxifene to combat some early stage gyno I’ve developed from high dose HGH I suspect. Lately I’ve been feeling a weird soreness in my arm and next to my pelvis ( little to the right of the groin area )
I’m worried they might be blood clots and am kinda starting to trip out over it. How can I know if these are developing clots? Thanks.

anyone here to try and reassure you otherwise would be doing you a disservice
Your body is telling you something, you might be way out in left field, but you know yourself better than any of us.

Personally, I’d recommend you go get checked. Not because I think you have a blood clot, but because your body is trying to tell you something and you’re clearly a bit worried about it.

what specifically about the pain leads you to believe it’s a blood clot? as in: why is that what comes to mind? do you have history of blood clots? chronic high blood pressure? factor v leiden?

field impression of clots usually present just like normal muscle soreness outside of a PE. in arterial clots, the signs to look for would be decreased blood flow to extremities (longer capillary refill time, loss of sensation, burning pain, pulseless extremity etc.) if it was a clot in a vein, you’d have noticeable discolouration, swelling, hot to touch when comparing to the other arm/side of your pelvis. saying this, it’s impossible to know of a clot without tests (ultrasound etc.) that is just what we as paramedics would look for in the field. and with this info, i would never even suspect a blood clot outside of a PE, STEMI or stroke (which even then I can not tell you if it’s an occlusive or hemorrhagic stroke without a CT.)

needless to say, go get checked out to ease your mind. likelihood of it being a clot is very low if it’s just a random ache.

For what it is worth I agree 100% with @RigPig - you can do things to help yourself but there is no question you should always listen to your body and see a doctor.
For the sake of the stress you are going through, you can get care immediately at he ER or wait and see your doctor or a clinic. I don't have any idea if you have a clot but I would take at least 1 low dose enteric coated aspirin, there are a lot of blood thinning vitamins/supplements/herbs but if you are feeling pain that is unexplained, that is a sign from your body to have it checked out.
You can bring up the Gyno and pain at the ER, and if the doctor doesn't live in a hole chances are they will know you are on steroids. At a certain point, you can't hide it especially if they have any hormone knowledge and do a few blood tests, but who gives a shit for your mental health.

If you want to you can take your BP on both arms, or parts of your legs. A relative had clogged arteries diagnosed by his doctor taking BP on both arms, the difference was significant which lead to an urgent referral to a specialist who ordered very basic surgery to remove the clot. He also smokes a pack a day and has for 50 years. Taking your BP on each arm, calf or ankle albeit you may need to buy a special cuff is not a substitute for seeing a doctor. Nor does it mean an off reading is a blood clot. My point is this can't be self diagnosed so go see a professional.
Please let us know what you found out. Good luck @Vitko

I had a bloodclot in my hip area back in 2023. I could visibly see it, the vein was hard to the touch and it was sore at first. It was probably about 15cm long you could visibly see it looked like a little twig under the skin. At first it was about 1cm and my coworker said I probably had a hernia. But it got bigger over 2 weeks.
I went to the ER, they didnt do anything but tell me to keep an eye on it and come back if I had worse symptoms. Couldn't believe it I figured it getting 15x the original size would count as "got worse". They called it a superficial clot and said it was likely from deadlifts. But I would still err on the side of caution if I was you.

Took about 3 months for it to fully go away! Actually had one in my right shoulder early this year again, superficial they couldn't do anything about it so they say. Got that one from using a hand saw to cut off most of the branches on an evergreen with my right arm took a slip on the ladder and caught a branch in the armpit on the way down. They figured the over use plus the impact of the branch as well as awful hydration caused it. Havent had one after that, been pissing clear since just incase hah!

crazy right? That's what fucks with my head and why I pushed him for the outcome. For years when I was much younger as far as I understood it it was damn near a death sentence, I'm guessing some older folks I knew had heart attacks or strokes or something and in the olden days (lol) the gen pop always mentioned clots. Maybe sort of an urban myth in my neighborhood borne of old medical knowledge idk
