Most important part first. I really hope we can get through this without any racism issues. I've tried very hard to chose my words carefully, hopefully and anyone who replies should to. If @Admin or a mod wants to shut it down at any point, including right away I don't have a problem with that at all. I've been here a lon time and if you like me or not hopefully i get at least enough respect to not get called out for being racist and if I do feel free to pm me and I will straighten you right out in a hurry, chances are it won't be polite.
This started as a reply to a thread but I copy pasted it here in full right before I hit send to keep some context.

@Mfg Eng Ok here is a weird question for you or I guess others if you don't mind interrupting your thread a bit. if anyone wants to call me a racist they can do it in PM cause that is not the case but I realize this could trigger somebody.

The basic question is about beauty standards over in some of the asian countries or any country for that matter. I'm just talking about faces, not race, not culture, not skin color and definitely not bodytype. I have a face "type" that I like, I think it would be safe to call it "classic" in the western world, probably the majority of people would have to agree that some women are beautiful regardless of whether they are their type or not. I googled "faces of miss universe winners" and 99.9% of them seem to be a fit for my type. I've heard a famous supermodel's quote about how in the end it's all about the math of geometry of a woman's face and that makes sense to me for the most part, symmetry alone can be a game changer

OK G WTF are you talking about?

I'm just wondering if the "classic" beauty standard applies all over the world and how rare of a find that is in some places? I don't want to insult anyone but in general women from certain places seem to look like they have lived through rough circumstances. All my asian friends are very much westernized except for the women and there is no fucking way Imma ask them. When I see pics from friends that come back from certain places women that look hot to me seem very rare.
If I leave the house for an hour at anytime to shop or gym even walmart I'll see a half-dozen or so 9's or 10's. And holy shit when I used to go to Cali all the time they were everywhere.

So to boil it down is my western standard a thing everywhere? Are there just less of them in certain places? I don't think it's too much of a class thing at least not in my experience. Do certain places just place more importance on different attributes? If so is that just accepted and the value changes - ie a Guelph 10 = an LA 6?

Respectfully Curious, G1

first question when you think "classic" beauty standard what do you envision as the "classic" beauty standard ?
and I am sure the standard varies for each culture

I am currently watching a netflix show called "the cleaning lady" on that show there is a lady named Eva De Dominici
she is not my type but on the show they had a close up of her face and she has by far the most beautiful eyes I have ever seen.
In my opinion she I think would be the classic beauty standard for western culture

Thinking......

Lots of things can make a woman beautiful to me.

I dont know if I have a specific type. I agree symetry, shape and skin type (blemished etcx) are certainly key and there is defienatly a standard.

I just cant say if its a Western standard. The west is not the oldest culture so we might be a bit silly of me to think we came up with it.

We all have a type. My girlfriend notices very easily. She tells me “you find that girl pretty eh?” lol.

This is an example of women I find stunning. I am sure if you guys do the exercise, you will see a pattern or something. I think mine is along the lines of skinny, refined faces, petite like, Caucasian and very important NATURAL. I don’t like voluptuous women.

You are correct. Generally beauty is perceived through symmetry. This is because our brains are programmed to look for things like symmetry, and other evolutionary signs of good genetics, DNA and so on. That said I would think its the same everywhere in every country healthy minds look for healthy bodies. Our brains however have evolved further to the point that we can somewhat reprogram some of our attractions such as a women.choosing a man because he makes good money or maybe provid security or like people say they are attracted to people with good personality or good sense of humor or like they say in some foreign countrys bigger women is a sign.of higher class because they have money to eat more etc. Where as sicker minded people may be attracted to demented standards such as say fetishes like attraction to morbid obesity, pregnant women or even disabilities.

I find they always looked way better with the fuller rounder face. They always get skinny and go for the high cheek bone thing as they get older.

@gondar1 this is great thread and don’t think it’s in the least bit racist, but you are still a racist pig.

I really think beauty is very subjective and also completely different than sex appeal.

I feel Nicole Kidman and Jennifer Aniston are both incredibly beautiful but has the sex appeal of a pair of old sneakers.

Definitely in for a follow here.

Eye of the Beholder

Twilight Zone season 2 episode 6

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder 😉

This is a great example. To me those three are on the top for everything but someone like Kim Kardashian who is a sex symbol and wtv… I just simply don’t like her because I see a pair of old sneakers 🤣

It is definitely subjective hence why we all have types.

Like… I would marry Ronda Rousey blindfolded but a lot of you guys for sure prefer Kim K

I'm not entirely sure what it is you're after but no, the western standard is not everywhere. Every culture has its own values and what they determine as what is beautiful or not and even within said culture there would be variations. I'm quite sure your could go across the globe and there would be many places that find Americans ugly. Having said that, if you're talking solely about how beautiful a womans appearance ( sticking to her face ) is it comes down to symmetry regardless of your culture.
Separating the beauty of a single attribute is pretty difficult to do, not sure why anyone would want to when it comes to looking for a wife.
Good thing most wise men don't look for a wife solely on their face.

I think we should consider early life impacts and environmental factors.
For instance, I was born in Hong Kong but was too young to remember much. (Came back to Canada when I was 2-3). My brother however was(is) 11 years older than me, and we lived there for 4 years. So, he spent his early to teen years (10 - 14 years old) in a very Asian-dominant environment, it was an all boys school, but any girls he spent his entire puberty becoming aware of, were Asian girls. Surrounded at all times by Hong Kong girls in private school outfits and ponytails.....

His first wife was Chinese-Canadian. His second wife is Chinese-American.....He's got a thing for Asian girls, whereas I do not. We're disturbingly alike in every other way genetically and in terms of life outlook and interests, despite the 11 year gap. But that interest in what girls we find attractive is very different.

Love this conversation. As to Gondor1s initial thought. Id agree with others here in that depending on were you are the locals of that area will have traits they are maybe more likely to see as beauty. However I believe lots of research has been done on general traits such as symmetry, height, health indicators etc. that have some appeal regardless of which society your in.

I think Im an oddity. Some of the ladies posted on this thread I dont find very attractive and others im all in on. But what i find attractive is soooo varied. Every possible race, skin tone and variety of facial features. One example that I can think of than so many find beautiful and I dont see it at all is Nicole Kidman. Cool convo fellas

Beauty is a perception, but not a random one.
Across cultures, people tend to favor faces that cluster around certain proportions.
Balanced eye spacing, nose‑to‑mouth width, bone structure ratios that signal healthy development.
Not rigid laws, but they are statistically meaningful and faces near them tend, on average, to come from healthier, more stable conditions, so the brain tags them as “beautiful.”

The opposite is obvious to see.
Almost everywhere, a disheveled, sickly, or diseased look... pale or jaundiced skin, sunken eyes, bad teeth, or visible neglect... Are read as unattractive, because it signals poor health or hardship.
Even when society glamorizes certain “deviant” looks like the Kate Moss “derelict addict” aesthetic,
these are treated as fashion statements, not as genuine health signals. Underneath styling, people still broadly agree on what “ugly” looks like in a biological sense.
So there must also be a quiet, cross‑cultural agreement on what “beautiful” tends to mean.

Symmetry has been mentioned a few times as an important indicator, yet oddly enough too symetrical a face is generally recognized as unattractive.
Variety itself, is a fundamentally required trait for health at a species level.

We should also mention that there are purely artificial and cultural drivers of beauty standards and I don't mean just observational. Body modifcation takes on a whole aspect of its own. Remember the women in some African and Asian cultures who stretch their necks with rings? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kayan_people_(Myanmar) as well as foot-binding in Japanese and Chinese cultures, where smaller and smaller feet on women was considered the height of refinement and beauty. Even wilder is the head-binding practices of various South and North American natives where the skull is elongated or flattened to an almost alien-like appearance....."Hey, check out that chick's skull....sooooo long "

That kind of thing goes on for generations, and thousands of years in some cases. The "natural" beauty standards are set aside in favour of things that won't translate internationally, but have serious effects in their own cultures.

There's a ton more of course, like currently we have Mar-A-Lago face for women of a certain political affiliation.....if you like that sort of thing. :ROFLMAO:

So it looks like we have learned beauty standards and "natural beauty" standards which seem to have more to do with health and symmetry, which is arguably a sign of health...

The feet binding and neck stretching. Awesome examples. To a lesser extent the use of corsets at different times is another example. Us humans are fuckin wierd.

This is so interesting. I was surrounded by Latino women and married to one for many years. Now, I find them all not attractive, I mean obviously I can see a pretty woman but not to feel attraction.

My partner, she is Italian-Canadian and she is only irrationally attracted to Latinos 🤣👨🏻‍🌾👷🏼‍♂️

I believe cultural traditions like these signal excess resources, much like a peacocks tail.
They can only make sense within that culture as beautiful,
but someone from another culture can tell that the person exhibiting those modifications must be wealthy, (or kept and provided for),
to be able to afford the limitations they present.
