What’s your career!

Nah, just text recognization and describing images. We replaced a GPS system with various aerial cameras pointed at mining equipment to identify which truck / shovel / loader is where along the pipeline. Way cheaper than paying for GPS.

Do you work in AI?
I have collaborated with a few client teams to help integrate our tech in their products. I am on the product side, so we get to see a few different implementations and AI has been the focus at most clients, lots of investment is going towards it.

Do you guys realize how many jobs right now involve direct human interaction with AI? It's a huge growing market in which people are hired to add human sounds, reactions, and interactions with listed stimuli that humans generally do. How long until they run out of the "GOOD" interactions? When do they start with the increasingly negative reactions with humans up to and including torture/conflict?

They're not making AI, they're making humans that are made up of circuit boards and you have to wonder when our "Skylab" moment comes because there is ZERO oversight on what people are doing. There is no line that the companies developing AI are required to stop at. AI companies are racing to make a person who is never born other than being put together in a factory. At what point are we going to be no longer necessary? At what point do the AI take over developing themselves including the experimentation on humans?

Ai is a scary thing, deep fake shit, conning us all. This is a few years old just think how far they have come.

We don't exist - The Meat Puppets single on their 1994 album Too High to Die.

I've seen the math, it's virtually a lock. I'm actually kind of counting on it, it helps when I feel the need to not give a fuck..

Synthetic Reality.

Christ, I felt chills when it said that. Talk about the absolute correct term for what's coming.

I thank god that I'm pretty sure that my GF and my life will be over or almost over when shit turns fully synthetic.

Its technically not too far in the future where you may be served by AI agents in customer service. Huge savings for coporations, so you know they are already investing in it!

Is it going to disrupt manual jobs? Not yet since a lot of taxes are generated by our wages and spending and are tied to the economy, BUUTTT if we continue to elect people who are supported, influenced by billionaires and industry tycoons, then you can guess which way things will go.

I really feel for people who can't retire now. This is an existential threat to whole segments of the job market that will likely lead to huge unemployment.

That's why they're easing us into universal basic income. All this carbon tax rebate, no gst bullshit and any other skimpy little free check the government gives us. It just teaches people to depend on the government.

No gst thing is vote buying. And nothing like creating a ton of work for retailers just before Christmas. We will all need to reprogram to take the gst off all those items, just to reprogram it all to put it back on in 2 weeks. And god forbid if you miss one item, the old and cheap people bitching thinking we are ripping them off.

Then likely next tax season GST will audit retailers because our GST returns were too low, lol.

What a shit show, plus there is no free money to give back. They will just borrow more to cover what is missing and we will all pay the interest on that.

But that is ok, Trudeau will get it back in the new year with the new carbon tax raise.

Payroll

So not a real job like many of you have here. Well it is a real job. I shouldn't put it down as I like it and I'm very lucky to have such a good job. I'm thankful every day.

Many of you here though, Jesus Christ! Talk about hands on hard labour work! My hats off to all of you. And being able to do gym too and make any amount of progress. Very impressive. No kidding.

Totally a real job. Without you it’s on the business owner. Allows us focus on generating income and alleviates some of the back end.

I’ve had good payroll and bad payroll, the later can cause of major problems.

Say what you will, but without you no one gets paid. If you ain't paying me, I ain't working. Gotta be one of the most important jobs there is. I will never admit it to those cocky sales guys, but without money, no one is getting paid... they are also vital.

I've never had the opertunity or qualifications to do office work. Mind you I have adhd so I might go stir crazy sitting down all day but I think I'd probably prefer your job lol.

Ford doing the same shit in Ontario with a $200 rebate to FIFTEEN MILLION PEOPLE. And oh yes, another election an entire year and a half early.

Umm yeah, screw that! Thankfully, I've done my job, but it would be done due to crypto anyway.

At least the tougher hands-on guys will have jobs in 10 years, though. You might take down some IT/office jobs, but people gotta have new buildings, fresh meat, or other jobs that just won't die soon.

Those concrete pumps must have been hell on construction when they came out. Taking guys who were busting balls on moving concrete all over a site out of the mix by someone just manning and moving a nozzle and someone making sure the concrete is being fed into the pump.

You know when I worked in an office setting I actually found it harder to get motivated to train.

Almost like an object in motion stays in motion.

Payroll is an important job. Who doesn't like getting paid.

Yep, that is what I was thinking also.

They need to borrow this money to pay it out, the province is broke. So they create inflation by borrowing to hand out the money.

I’ll get a bit of a boom at work, then people will be upset when I’m forced to raise prices again.

Will have to after the next carbon tax raise for sure. All my raw materials will increase again.

It's just a payoff for dumb people who can't instantly see a)corruption b)that somebody needs to pay for that 3 billion dollars in (not free) money.
